New ONS figures show the number of 16 to 24 year olds not in education, employment or training (NEET) has passed a million.
There are now 1,012,000 young people classed as NEET in the UK, up 89,000 on the year and 55,000 on the quarter. That is 13.5% of all 16 to 24 year olds, up a full percentage point in just twelve months…
Of the million, 400,000 are unemployed and actively looking for work. The other 613,000 are ‘economically inactive’. Not only are the not working, they’re not seeking work either. That number alone has risen by 66,000 in the quarter. Totally unsustainable. Labour isn’t working…
