There are not one but two stories on the BBC News website about Tim Montgomerie’s suspension, which Guido revealed yesterday. No doubt egged on by his willingness to go on Newsnight to vow to fight his suspension…
Both stories are now almost the same after the BBC updated its original one with the latest remarks on Newsnight. There was, on the other hand, no BBC News story at all when Montgomerie defected to Reform in December 2024, just a belated podcast as he began to do media.
Nor was there any BBC News story about Kemi Badenoch’s suspension of Gavin Barwell, peer, former Downing Street Chief of Staff, and Tory minister. Curious…
It is almost as if the BBC is revelling in internal turmoil over at Reform Towers. Perish the thought – bias at the BBC?
Lord Khan in the Telegraph: “I hope, and I say this in a non-pompous way, that the public service I do will bring rewards in this world and the hereafter,” he says. “I’m hoping the work I do is earning me Brownie points.”
