Former Transport Secretary and soft-left organiser Louise Haigh has called for Starmer to go unless he can turns things around. She told ITV Calendar today:
“Well, he is doing an incredible job at the moment on the international stage in the middle of global instability and a war and it is imperative that he is successful in that role because our constituents livelihoods are dependent upon it. But I think what is abundantly clear is that unless the government delivers significant and urgent change then the prime minister cannot lead us into another election.”
One of the few to go over the top (kind of)…
Starmer loyalist and Housing Secretary Steve Reed told Sky News that Starmer should not be replaced:
“We saw what the Tories did. They were in power for 14 years, and after 2016, I think we had nine education secretaries, seven chancellors, and five Prime Ministers. Doomscrolling through Prime Ministers doesn’t resolve the problem.”
