UKIP Call on HMRC to Investigate Hodge the Dodge

UKIP economic spokesman Godfrey Bloom has gone after Margaret Hodge, demanding that HMRC “investigate unanswered questions from C4 News, Sky News and Guido Fawkes about her ‘knowledge’ of the tax affairs of her family trust”:

“It beggars belief that Hodge stated that her family company paid ‘every penny’ of the tax it owed although later she admitted that did not know how much tax it actually paid. Yet, this woman is chairman of the House of Commons Public Affairs Committee. Hodge comes in at No 15 on the Times’ Politicians Rich List, with a mere £18m tied up on the family business, which is in a family trust so there is no inheritance tax to pay.  One rule them and one for the rest of the plebs?  I call on HMRC to investigate.”

Always one to help expose tax hypocrisy, here are a few questions HMRC should ask:

  • Why Hodge claimed that “I am a tiny, tiny, tiny shareholder” in Stemcor when her direct shareholding is worth £1.8 million.
  • Why Hodge holds several million pounds more worth of Stemcor shareholdings in trusts.
  • For what purpose Hodge holds these shareholdings in trusts other than to reduce the risk of a future tax liability.

As Hodge the Dodge said herself last week, “I think what we are going to have to do is order somebody to come who can give us answers to the questions…”

Many global companies are being attacked for their failure to pay much or any UK tax despite substantial trading operations in this country. Whilst it’s shocking how little they are contributing to the country they are, in most cases, operating within the law and the real blame lies with HMRC which seems to have gone native. I mean how can Starbucks justify its continued operations in the UK if it’s allegedly never made a profit for tax purposes here? That’s not real capitalism at work. I have produced a media promotion device which fits to the rear windscreen of a car to broadcast my disgust at HMRC’s apparent capitulation to big global businesses. It’s called the ‘Timid Taxman’ WiperWagger. When you wipe the Timid Taxman waves his white flag of surrender and his speech bubble can be use to display various statements about HMRC’s strategy for taxing global companies.

Time to gee them up, me thinks

Let’s not kill the Golden Goose. If we want more corporations to pay more corporation tax here then lower the rates to something more competitive.

Using the “moral arguement” in an attempt to coerce a change is not going to work.
The government make the rules & must operate in accord with them just as the companies are doing.Morality is a 2-way thing; it applies to the governors as well as the governed.

          • Cinna says:

At least Starbucks et al are “honest” in not denying that their business in the UK are set up to minimise their tax liability within the current rules.

      Rough Justice says:

HMRC is run by the idiot, Lynn Homer, who helped wreck the Home Office and flooded the UK with immigrants. She should be on any sensible person’s list of public ‘servants’ who should be fired without compensation or pension for being a traitor to her country.

    Fuck the LibLabCon says:

It wasn’t a ‘terrorist’ attack, just the inevitable result of mass immigration, enforced multiculturalism, illegal wars, the balkanisation of our cities, propaganda and lies from the MSM and a country run but a bunch of self serving complicit traitorous scum.

Pin the tail on the donkey says:

The statements the guy made on the video appear to suggest this is more to do with Blair’s foreign policies in the middle east, and continued UK support for ongoing US policy in the middle east.

Political blame could be laid at Blair’s door.

How can UKIP be held responsible ?

Or are they trying to spin the quote from the guy in the vid:

‘Get rid of your governments, they don’t care about you’

        To be:

        ‘Vote UKIP’

        – ?

          Socialism Ate My Future says:

They’re trying to say that UKIP has now made it acceptable to be anti Islam and racist

          • Rough Justice says:

‘They’ can say what they like. They would be wrong. If your country and way of life is under attack, it is not anti-islam or racist to defend yourself. It is sensible.

There did appear to be a security problem there. Recall some of the professors were dismissed and they lost their right to clear visas for overseas students when Syr!a war started to get going.

Can someone explain to me why BBC and sky are interviewing, or should i say, allowing Muslim supporters of various groups to distance themselves from the acts that happened yesterday. It’s absolutely scandalous! The more this is allowed to continue, the easier it makes for Cameron and the other spineless traitors to carry on as though nothing has happened. Islam is a problem in this country and for Sky (i’m not surprised really by the BBC) to give air-time to these deluded idiots to rant about how Islam is based upon peace and harmony really does make my blood boil. What is happening to this country? I’m fearful of what is to become in the next 10 years.

Rod Liddle on the loony UN sexism special rapporteur:

“There is more sexism in Britain than in any other country in the world, according to a mad woman who has been sent here by the United Nations.

Rashida Manjoo is a part-time professor of law at Cape Town University in the totally non-sexist country of South Africa (otherwise known as Rape Capital Of The World).

Mrs Magoo has been wandering around with her notebook and is appalled by the sexist “boys’ club” culture here, apparently.

I don’t doubt we still have sexism in the UK. But is it worse than in, say, Saudi Arabia, d’you think, honey-lamb? Or about 175 other countries? Get a grip, you doolally old bat.”
