Political obsessives always make the mistake of thinking the public are interested in policy. They’re not – they vote according to who looks good on the telly – and Obama looks good on the telly. The Republican hopefuls all looks like swivel-eyed lunatics (which, with the exception of Ron Paul, they are).

The GOP candidates extend the range of weird as far as possible , Ron seems the most normal ( in a nice old fashioned sort of way ) with Romney so far out of sight I really worry for America ( it’s the Mormon thing). Obama should win , then get some real hard work done.

Would their inability to do it as well as Obama be connected to the fact that their mothers were white?

The last time a US president had so much time to sing (or play the sax), the got booted out at the next election. A good omen for November elections then.

The beauty contests count for squat. All that matters is delegates, and Paul has 82 delegates compared to Romney’s 93.

Total Delegates (IA, NH, SC, FL, NV, MN, CO, ME)
        Romney: 93 (6, 7, 2, 50, 14, 2, 7, 5)
        Paul: 82 (13, 3, 0, 0, 5, 28, 17, 16)
        Gingrich: 29 (0, 0, 23, 0, 6, 0, 0, 0)
        Santorum: 25 (6, 0, 0, 0, 3, 7, 9, 0)
        Unpledged: 14 (3, 2, 0, 0, 0, 3, 3, 3)

Actually, looking at the individual precinct counts, he is getting more votes and winning more precincts in some states than all the other candidates. The GOP is refusing to count those votes. Look at the mess of the polling and counts in Maine.

luckily for Ron Paul supporters, the votes at the caucus are actually irrelevant. It is the delegates collected at the county, state and national level that matter and Ron Paul is picking up more delegates in practice from the precincts and counties for the state in some of these caucus states than any other candidate.

      Really? says:

There’s no reason to think that he is not serious about turning America’s focus inwards, in which case there will be uneasy sphincters the world over.

As he rebalances its budget away from military spending overseas, those of its allies who have depended upon their protective umbrella will surely find that their spending has to balloon – a big ask, even in expansionary economic times.

      Libertarian political idealism meets reality.

The U.K. All-Stars with Rick Astley on mic, Kenny Lynch on drums, Bucks Fizz on backing vocals, Chris Huhne on triangle, Charlotte Church on her Knees, Boy George on boy George, and Shaun Ryder on whatever’s available.

A splendid rendition of The Eton Boating Song.

Is it just me, or is Nigel Farage just a top hat and a monocle away from being a Batman villain?
