Wheels Come Off Protester’s Complaint

Jody Macinytre, radical pro-Palestine supporter and sufferer from cerebral palsy has made much hay of the fact he was dragged out of his wheelchair by riot police at Thursday’s protests. Yet he has previously admitted to be coordinating breaking police lines. He claims on his blog he is a revolutionary yet spent a BBC interview declaring his innocence and denied live on Sky that he was in fact a revolutionary before going on to claim that the police had no reason to move him out of the way. However he has revelled in, and incited, violence on his website.

His argument is undone when a quick glance at his blog shows that he has been at the forefront of the protests so far at Westminster and managed to walk all the way up to the top of Millbank back in November, blogging that “It was an epic mission to the top. Nine floors; eighteen flights of stairs. Two friends carried my wheelchair, and I walked.” Macintyre can’t hide behind his disability when the police treat him like any other violent trespassing thug. It’s called equality…

Hat-Tip : Phil Taylor

UPDATE: Further pictorial evidence emerges of the police being as gentle as possible in moving Macintyre and in doing so the officers put themselves in personal danger from the hail of missiles. Here is a quote from Graham Mitchell the photographer “Mr McIntyre was in the front row of the crowd and in a very precarious position, especially as he is wheelchair bound. It was clear from my vantage point that the police moved him as gently as possible and in doing so the officers put themselves in personal danger from the hail of missiles. Once he had been moved away from the front line to a safe distance, the officers sat him  on a low level wall.  Mr McIntyre got up and started arguing with an officer.  He was so wound up that he eventually tried to strike an officer and was only stopped from doing this due to the intervention of a famale passer-by.”

+ + + Bonking Boris Cleared over Complaint + + +

Mayor Boris has been cleared of any wrongdoing regarding the hiring of Helen “Mini-Cheddars” Macintyre, the mother of his love-child, after her then husband made a substantial donation. The complaint from Labour was chucked out.

Boris’s shagging is barely a story anymore…

Disgraced Handy-cock Triggers Council Chaos

Guido told you yesterday that Portsmouth LibDems were making noises about their disgraced MP and councillor Mike Hancock, but it seems the local Tories are even more outraged by, not only the sex scandals, but also the potential breach of national security over his employee and suspected spy, Katerina Zatuliveter. LibDem Council Leader Gerald Vernon Jackson, who Guido had the pleasure of speaking with yesterday, refused to answer an emergency question concerning the Royal Naval base and information Mike Hancock had about  it in his capacity as a councillor responsible for local planning. Such information that could have been passed to the Russians…

The Tories down there are raging that Vernon Jackson was unable to give a clear assurance that he had never given Hancock, or sent his office, sensitive information. They staged a complete walk out of the full council meeting. Guido has to agree with the head of the Tory grouping Steve Wemyss, who put it bluntly – “Is there something the Leader is trying to hide?”

+ + + Dale Departs the Blogosphere + + +

Iain Dale has departed the blogosphere.

It doesn’t come as a great surprise to Guido, Iain has been muttering about having had enough of it all for some time. We were competitors back in the day when he was supporting David Davis for the leadership of the Conservative Party and this blog was highlighting the potential of a little known chap called David Cameron. The smartest thing we did was decide to become allies rather than enemies. The competition has been friendly and in times of trouble that friendship has been relied on.

Iain has had an awful time from some parts of the blogosphere, yet he has done more to popularise blogging than any other blogger in Britain. He advanced the cause of blogging ceaselessly when it was far less mainstream than it is now. His annual guide to blogging is the reference book for the political blogosphere and he has encouraged bloggers of all stripes, publicising them with his Daley Dozen links which have brought many to first prominence.

In the words of ABBA, Guido would like to say: Thank you for the music

They’re All At It Together

While the the likes of Mike Hancock are flying the flag for Members’ late night shenanigans, Guido had to laugh when he heard that a particularly nasty bout of the clap is doing the rounds of parliamentary researchers and bag-carriers.

In these times of coalition there has apparently been a lot more, er, cross-party integration amongst the new boys and girls compared to the very tribal liaisons in the last Parliament. There have been some extremely awkward phone-calls between offices, and there is one corridor suffering particularly badly. With Christmas party season in full swing, wrap up kids, you have been warned…

How Journalism Works (Part 94)

Yesterday we reported exclusively that Bob Roberts will be appointed as Ed Miliband’s news spinner. The Guardian followed it up with “There were unconfirmed reports today that Bob Roberts, political editor of the Mirror, is to become Miliband’s director of communications…”, note the lack of attribution to the unconfirmed report. The FT’s Jim Pickard went with it, having apparently troubled himself to get a non-denial from Bob, the Daily Mail just went with it – again without attribution. They can’t bring themselves to give credit, because then their editors would ask them why they were beaten – again – by a below-the-salt blogger?

“We Maastricht rebels were derided and abused for opposing the single currency by the wise, clever, Guardianista soft centre left establishment from whom we now hear so little on the matter.”

The last Quango in Paris says:

Mr Bryant and Mr Watson managing to make the whole hacking affair look like a farce – the more they moan the less I care about the whole subject! So partisan it beggars belief at all costs. They cannot rise above it ! If I was to call the PM a ‘liar’ I would want to be VERY sure.
