Christine Lee, the Chinese solicitor accused of spying on Westminster on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party, has lost her legal challenge against the Security Services at the Investigatory Powers Tribunal. Lee accused MI5 of “attacking” her reputation and trampling on her human rights by saying she engaged in “political interference activities” for a branch of the CCP. Lee was also well plugged into Westminster…
Her son worked as a bag-carrier for Labour’s “Beijing Barry” – Labour MP Barry Gardiner – who trousered a whopping £500,000 from Lee’s “generosity.” Back in 2022, Guido revealed another cosy connection: LibDem leader Sir Ed Davey. According to Ed’s own register of interests, his local party happily scooped up a £5,000 donation from Lee back in November 2013. Meanwhile both Lee and and her son Wilkes had previously congratulated Tory MP Alan Mak for his electoral victory in 2015 and the BCP referred to him as “our Chinese candidates”. Chinese solicitors clearly don’t play favourites when it comes to political parties…
Lib Dem leader Ed Davey proudly attended his Annual General Meeting in his own Kingston branch last week, joined by a throng of… several “dedicated and committed” Lib Dem members. Clearly the offerings of drinks and snacks wasn’t quite as thrilling as one of Ed’s usual high-flying, water-sporting stunts. More chairs than cheers…

Ed perched himself in the sparse fifth row, gazing across a sea of empty seats in the roomy community hall. Perhaps next time they might use a smaller room. Or just a Zoom call…
Ed Davey and his clan burst into song as the Lib Dem conference comes to a close. Painfully, Davey’s mic was still on whilst singing ABBA’s “Take a Chance on Me”. Just the latest of his publicity stunts…
The Lib Dem conference has been quite the circus, with Davey prancing about playing volleyball, zipping around on jet skis, and the party members falling over themselves to pat each other on the back. Today, a Lib Dem councillor toasted the supposed “success” of South Cambridge council’s four-day week. A scheme that hardly warrants a celebration…
Lib Dem Councillor Bridget Smith, who ignored the Tory government’s calls to scrap the scheme, declared today that the four-day week had been a roaring victory. The scheme was initially touted to save £1 million on agency staff. Then that figure quietly shrank to £434,000, before being revised again to a measly £370,000 – clearly moving the goalposts to make this bungled plan seem like anything but a disaster. If this is their idea of success, one dreads to think what failure looks like…
Davey’s leapt to new heights in his quest to grab the media’s attention. It appears paddle boarding, water sliding, and mountain biking weren’t desperate enough for the LibDem leader. Davey this morning opted to go bungee-jumping to announce LibDem’s boost for bereavement payments. Taking the plunge for publicity…
As he dangled mid-air, Davey shouted to the cameras below, “Do something you’ve never done before. Vote Liberal Democraaaat!”. Strong and brave…
Speaking at his speech on how to achieve “progressive capitalism” Wes Streeting fired a dig and Andy Burnham:
“Bond markets are not bond villains and fiscal rules matter.”
