Starmer appointed Peter Mandelson as US Ambassador despite it being long in the public domain that he had allegedly called Epstein to arrange a meeting with top banker Jamie Dimon while the convicted paedophile was still in jail. This was broadcast on Channel 4 back in 2019. Five years before Starmer sent Mandelson to Washington…
An anonymous source told Cathy Newman:
“While I was there, [Epstein] received a call and said, “Hello, Petey.” And he chatted away and Petey wanted to meet Jamie Dimon, who was then the chairman of JP Morgan. And by the time he put he said, “Yes, I’ll sort it out.” Put the phone down and Petey turned out to be none other than the Secretary of the Board of Trade, Peter Mandelson. I was astonished that a British cabinet minister at that time, probably the most powerful man other than the prime minister, was calling Jeffrey in jail to make an appointment or to seek an appointment with a very powerful banker New York… Yep, it was it was sorted out… Well, clearly you don’t call Peter Mandelson ‘Petey’ if you’re not a close friend.”
Starmer admitted yesterday that he knew Mandelson had stayed in Epstein’s flat when the paedophile was behind bars. Did the government’s vetting process register that Mandelson was calling in favours from a jailed Epstein while still at the top of government? Mandelson’s lawyers denied the phone call at the time. Labour’s official line that Mandelson “lied” to them is already falling apart…
Speaking at his press conference on the Pride in Place programme which was obviously all about Mandelson, Starmer said:
“Tomorrow’s front pages are unlikely to be about the Pride in Place programme.”
