As it turns out today is the feast of Epiphany and Welby’s 69th birthday, which has given Welby an excuse to host a day of celebratory events as a “thank you from and celebration” for friends and staff at his official residence. Lunch in the Great Hall, afternoon tea in the Guard Room, and then an “intimate evening gathering” and dinner…
Welby will then lay down his crozier and cease to be in post. Guido, for one, will miss the Archbishop and remembers his top hits fondly:
