The Tories say:
“The Conservative Party has today announced the four candidates who have passed the Candidate Assessment Centre and may now be considered for selection as the Conservative candidate for the London Mayoral Election:
Festus Akinbusoye
Sara Gezdari
Alex Challoner
James CleverlyThe Conservative Party is delighted to have attracted candidates of such high calibre, each of whom would bring considerable experience to the role.
The next stage of the process will be an interview with the Selection Council on Saturday 31st October, which will reduce the longlist to up to three finalists.
A ballot of London members will then open on Monday 2nd November and run until Wednesday 18th November, with the result announced on Friday 20th November.
If any candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, they will become the Conservative candidate for Mayor of London. If no candidate passes that threshold, the candidate with the fewest votes will drop out and a second round of voting will open on Monday 23rd November, closing on Wednesday 25th November, with the final result announced on Friday 27th November.”
Good luck…
Robert Jenrick on the Today programme:
