Jonathan Reynolds has pinned the blame on Greater Manchester mayor Bev Craig for bringing a Manchester City representative on last week’s government trade trip to India. Not the best travel companion…
Reynolds told the Commons today:
“We took 200 businesses to India. The mayors took their own delegations. The Manchester City representative came with the mayor of Greater Manchester rather than me. So I would just like to put that on the record to avoid any lack of clarity about it.”
Craig has already defended the decision, telling The Guardian a club that breaks the rules should be punished, but that east Manchester residents had felt the benefit of City’s investment. So it’s about the cash?
Former Labour leader Neil Kinnock was asked if Burnham will take Britain back into the EU:
“Yes, sure – his commitment is authentic. He really does understand from the grassroots up why restoring what I think of as normality in our continent is vital for every party economically, politically, culturally, in terms of security, and he’s able to articulate it in language that people can understand. So yeah, he is definitely”.
