On 13th March this year, Wilson hosted this seminar for the Centre for Investigative Journalism:
“How do we define the impact of journalism? As print consumption has declined, so too has the readership of mainstream news outlets. But journalism can still make change in the age of hyper-decentralised, personalised mass media. True impact is what others do after reading or watching your story – not simply the fact that they saw it. Journalists need to becomms experts, marketing gurus, and campaigners if they want their work to have impact. This session will guide participants through the fundamentals needed to perform these roles for themselves.”
The course was held over Zoom, and participants were warned it would not be recorded. Not hard to imagine why…
