The Cabinet Office’s annual report and accounts is out today. It reveals Chris Wormald, ex-Starmer Cabinet Secretary, was handed a £859,496 severance payout. The comptroller wrote:
“I have reviewed both the evidence to support the exit package and the request for and receipt of a Ministerial Direction. The appropriate approvals have been obtained to ensure the expenditure incurred is regular, and appropriate disclosures are included within these annual report and accounts.
I have, however, observed considerable variation in the size and nature of exit payments made on the departure of Permanent and Cabinet Secretaries. I consider this is an area requiring further review by the Cabinet Office.
I recommend that the Cabinet Office leads a review of both the employment terms and conditions and performance management arrangements of Permanent and Cabinet Secretaries, to reduce the incidence of discretionary extra-contractual elements of payments on departure from these roles.”
It was previously thought that Wormald was only paid above £500,000 or so. Almost a million…
Boris spoke to GB News about Labour’s attempts to restrict donations:
“It looks absolutely pathetic. Just because some people want to support one party very generously, Labour kicks up a huge fuss and says they’re going to cap donations.
I just saw Richard Tice on your show just now. I have to say I rather agree with him.
They’ve got huge amounts of money – troughing it from the trade unions. It’s absolutely ridiculous Labour are trying to cap donations.”
