YouGov polling has found that nearly half of Brits think there should be an early general election if Andy Burnham becomes PM, compared to only 35% who say there shouldn’t be. Team Burnham has thought about it…
48% say there should be a general election once Keir Starmer’s replacement is in place. YouGov says: “Labour voters are opposed to a fresh election (62%), as are 52% of Lib Dem and Green voters, while most Tory (72%) and Reform voters (88%) are in favour.” 46% of Britons would also prefer Burnham to face a contest while only 23% would prefer he became Prime Minister unopposed as has now been organised by Labour…
In addition, 18% think that Burnham would be a great or good Prime Minister, 20% expect that he would be average, and 26% think he would be poor or terrible. Political honeymoons are in short supply these days…
