Guido’s rowing days are behind him but a subtle change to the system of recording competitive racing at Britain’s foremost university has not gone unnoticed. Traditionally at college level men’s boats are called ‘M1, M2′ and so on, and womens’ are ‘W1, W2’…
Now the men’s category has been deleted entirely and replaced with ‘O1’ – meaning ‘open’. This new division was created, as university paper Varsity whined, as: “trans women are now barred from competing in the Women’s Division and forced into the newly-established “Open” Division, racing alongside those defined as male at birth.”
Men have rowed in eights for 199 years (since 1827) – so it’s almost 200 years of men’s only divisions deleted by a quiet vote last year with almost no coverage or scrutiny. Go woke go broke…

“She doesn’t have a passion for cooking.”
