New UNISON general secretary Andrea Egan has said Starmer should go:
“Labour faces oblivion because it is not delivering for the vast majority of people. What must change is not just the leader but the entire approach: only a Labour Government which always puts the interests of workers before the wealthy can succeed.
Reform claims to oppose the elite, but all they offer is attacks on workers and migrants. UNISON will not tolerate attacks on our members from Reform-run local councils. If Reform comes for our jobs, pensions, pay or conditions, they will face the full force of the union.”
Some union snowballing here…
Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham said: “The writing is on the wall for this Labour government and it could be the beginning of the end for the party itself. The working class have been abandoned… If the party does not shift decisively towards the working class it is finished. It is change or die. Now or never’.” Apocalyptic…
Starmer loyalist and Housing Secretary Steve Reed told Sky News that Starmer should not be replaced:
“We saw what the Tories did. They were in power for 14 years, and after 2016, I think we had nine education secretaries, seven chancellors, and five Prime Ministers. Doomscrolling through Prime Ministers doesn’t resolve the problem.”
