A coy David Gauke was asked about his inbound knighthood from Starmer on Sky News:
“Well, I’ve I’ve had more positive responses, it would be fair to say. But I obviously can’t talk about the the speculation about an honour. But look, I assume that this is a sort of rather overexcited junior member of her team. I would have thought on an election day she’s probably got bigger things to worry about than that particular issue. And I assume they were worried that the suggestion that I’d been nominated by the Conservative Party or something and that might upset the Reform type, they’re worried about the online right. I think it’s a it’s a bit of a silly story.”
Yesterday a Tory source said: “Kemi absolutely livid Labour nominated Gauke. She wouldn’t have him anywhere near any list. Starmer even snuck it through a random honours committee to stop Kemi vetoing it. He stood against the Conservatives, now he’s doing Labour’s bidding on sentencing and bagged himself a knighthood. Total Starmer stitch up.” Gauke is still trying to take control of the direction of the Tory Party via the Prosper group he started with Gavin Barwell…
Starmer loyalist and Housing Secretary Steve Reed told Sky News that Starmer should not be replaced:
“We saw what the Tories did. They were in power for 14 years, and after 2016, I think we had nine education secretaries, seven chancellors, and five Prime Ministers. Doomscrolling through Prime Ministers doesn’t resolve the problem.”
