Georgescu shocked many when he came out of nowhere and won the first round of Romania’s presidential election two weeks ago. According to declassified Romanian intelligence documents, Georgescu had a TikTok campaign mirroring the influence operations run by the Kremlin in Ukraine and Moldova. The court now says it “annuls the entire electoral process regarding the election of the president of Romania.” The second run off due on Sunday now won’t take place…
Douglas Alexander – a friend of Starmer’s – was asked on Sky News if the PM will be in post at the next election. He wasn’t so sure himself:
“I think he will. There are no certainties but of course I think he will lead and I think he should because, frankly, on the biggest call in this parliament he’s exercised the right judgment, which is to keep us out of someone else’s war.”
