Unite to Labour:
No Reform, No Primaries, Unions Control Selections

redlen
The Collins review into Labour’s links with the unions has evoked a response from Len McCluskey. Guido has the official response of the Unite Executive Council. In summary it is “Sod Off Mililband”.

  • Unite refuses to accept any reduction in the 50% union conference vote.
  • Unite still intends to support the selection of their own candidates.
  • Absolutely opposes open primaries which would dilute their power to control selections.

The unions have pretty much killed off Miliband’s reform plans…

N.B. Unite’s response, in full, is here [PDF].

A placard tax might help. If not, a few arrests for vote rigging and subverting democracy might do the trick.

Labour may as well change its name to UNITE because that is basically what they are, completely took over and now are militant Unite’s political wing, pretty much like Sinn Fein was run by the IRA. There must be some legal remedy or complication in this, tax complication they can do to shut this down.

Anonymowen is right about Gheedough slipping in an “absolutely” which wasn’t in the document. A little trick he learnt from Wendi’s cuckold, his paymaster.

Nice to learn that Labour are totally independent and will dream up their own policies.
Red Ed should realise the realities, he is merely a mouthpiece for others, a red sock puppet or muppet if you will.

What a despicable specimen of a leader of a political party. Miliband is owned and
paid for by McClusky and Unite . He is a spineless puppet and God help us all if
ever he and his incompetent party are ever elected .

  46. 46

Calls himself leader of Labour I call it a liberty. It’s Trade Union Mafia Power innit?

  47. 47
    A Taxpayer says:

    ESA
If you have been stupid to work for as long as possible and pay your taxes and N.I. and also be stupid enough to put a little money aside each month for your old age, you really are a Pratt, because if there comes a time when you need help from the state, due to ill health they will say no, you cant work but you have some money in the bank, it doesn’t matter that you have paid in for decades you get nothing.
A good analogy would be winning the lottery going to the office to collect the money and find that they have looked at your finances and say you have got enough money so we aren’t going to pay out.
It seems that paying in counts for nothing, but if you are a scumbag with multiple kids from multiple , unknown fathers you are fawned upon and provided with all your needs (alcohol, fags etc.) .
It’s a great system no wonder the country is on its backside.

  48. 48

Now this whole thing really does show labour/union symbiosis under a floodlight for all to see .

Basically the unions are saying even if we only have say twenty percent of our members opting in to plp membership we still want our FIFTY percent share of block vote at conference for all time .

Neither Tamany Hall nor the Politburo can give lessons to Unite on this one .

The phrase ” We propose the following … ” in Unite s response is to be taken as reading ” We pay the piper so we call the tune …. amdroid !”

  49. 49
    Vote Ed get Len. says:

Len McCluski sees Labour as an extension to his power. He is not going to relinquish it without a fight. Ed will be nothing more than Len’s ventriliquist dummy. A pair of communist creeps with subtle creeping communist policies is slowly becoming apparent with the wiser part of the public. The rest of the public must wake up and see that Labour are sleep walking us into a socialist state.

A vote for Ed is a vote for Len!

  50. 50
    Socialist Mug! says:

Why doesn’t McCluski and his fellow commies set up their own party. It won’t be big but it still gives them a voice in a democratic context!

In the spirit of communism, Len can have that idea for free!

  51. 51

Far from supporting real democracy, all this BS is aimed at undermining the long-standing link between the Labour Party and the unions. For, most tellingly, there is no call to break the iron grip big business have on the Tory Party. Anyone want to debate this?

Yes the hard-right would love that. And yet, if the nasty and evil unions had THAT much power and influence – would not Labour policy be to reinstate union rights? Clearly, Ed M would be weak and foolish if he was to walk into your trap, of breaking the proud and long-standing links with Trade Unions. And so, it was good news when David went to work for his Uncle Sam.

George Galloway says of his former Respect candidate the UKIP MEP turned Tory, Amjad Bashir…

“Clearly Bashir does not have any real political principles or commitment, only naked opportunism and self-interest. He represents the revolving door principle in politics. The Tories are welcome to him because he will cause them embarrassment. Fortunately Respect was able to act before he did it to us.”
