Unite to Labour:
No Reform, No Primaries, Unions Control Selections

The Collins review into Labour’s links with the unions has evoked a response from Len McCluskey. Guido has the official response of the Unite Executive Council. In summary it is “Sod Off Mililband”.

  • Unite refuses to accept any reduction in the 50% union conference vote.
  • Unite still intends to support the selection of their own candidates.
  • Absolutely opposes open primaries which would dilute their power to control selections.

The unions have pretty much killed off Miliband’s reform plans…

N.B. Unite’s response, in full, is here [PDF].

  2. 2
    Podiceps says:

The unions have Labour completely in their grasp. Why ever would they want to loosen their grip?

    • 3
      Democracy Now says:

A placard tax might help. If not, a few arrests for vote rigging and subverting democracy might do the trick.

      I hate socialists. says:

What a despicable specimen of a leader of a political party. Miliband is owned and
paid for by McClusky and Unite . He is a spineless puppet and God help us all if
ever he and his incompetent party are ever elected .

  3. 4
Empty Ed Milliband, trying to find somfing to say says:

My Balls are squeezed between the Unions and the Hedgies

    It’s all totally corrupt really…

Lord Cashpoint has told me so…

      Someone says:

You lack courage. The only act of so-called ‘courage’ you ever engaged in was a to stab your brother in the back, which took little in the way of cajones, because as well you know, he was a serial gutless wonder.

  4. 5
    Ed Miliband says:

We don’t need the unions money, the Co-op is our preferred lender/donor. Oh shit.

  5. 6
    Sandie Shaw says:

    Like a puppet on a striiiiing ♫

You’re all being terribly mean to me.

I wouldn’t buy a second-hand car from someone who looks as shady as you, Mark

Have a shave and try at least to look presentable….

  7. 8
Mark Thompson, lying in New York says:

It’s all Nick Pollard’s fault Guido

    You know that…

He’s done a coverup but he was trained by Murdoch like you

    So what can you expect?

  8. 10
    Ref. says:

Labour may as well change its name to UNITE because that is basically what they are, completely took over and now are militant Unite’s political wing, pretty much like Sinn Fein was run by the IRA. There must be some legal remedy or complication in this, tax complication they can do to shut this down.

  9. 13
    Queen Elizabeth II says:

Finally, when 2015 arrives one will get to meet with a Prime Minister who has about as much real power as one.

  10. 14

Vote Labour in haste, overspent at leisure

Did you not get the memo? says:

That applies equally to the coalition though, doesn’t it?

After all, the coalition is throwing taxpayers money around at a rate even Gordon the Medicated, dare not.

    Anonymous says:

Unite doc just says oppose not ‘absolutely oppose’. Small matter but does change meaning somewhat and weakens your already weak article.

Unite, an affiliated union, has an opinion on party reform? Whatever next? Private healthcare donors to the Tory Party getting contracts from the govt? Oh wait….

    • 17
      Anonymous says:

is that you, Owen? Not off spreading socialist crap on soapboxes today then….oh wait.

      • 43
        Monica says:

Anonymowen is right about Gheedough slipping in an “absolutely” which wasn’t in the document. A little trick he learnt from Wendi’s cuckold, his paymaster.

If he hadn’t been busy sexing up the document he might have picked up on Unite’s claiming they “cannot” do stuff when they mean “will not”.

The son is a Director of the World Economic Forum in Davos also

The annual meeting of oligarchs, big corporates and capitalist hangers on

Rather suitable for the son of a Labour Leader

        Corrupt fukcing hypocrites

Two daughters, conceived doggy-style with eyes firmly closed and a gay porn film playing in the head,,, what a waste of prime Scandinavian totty.

  13. 20
    Does he enjoy humiliation? says:

The Leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party has his pants pulled down in public by his owner. Does he pretend to enjoy the shit sandwich he has just been served?

  14. 23
    Fvck me gently! says:

So the Labour Party cannot decide themselves if they change their relationship with the Unions as they need approval of the Unions first? Errr…. Hang-on a second, I think I have spotted the problem!

  15. 25
    The Veolia affair says:

Re your reference to The Veolia Affair

This is a deeply corrupt organisation that has been condemned many times around the world

That another one of Cameron’s friends and neighbour near Chipping Norton, the PR lobbyists and influennce peddlar “Lord” Deben is involved should come as no surprise…

Dave’s friends are into every crooked organisation which offers to pay them handsomely

  16. 26
Sunderland is a Labour ghetto thats why its shyte says:

Labour will never change its relationship with the Unions as long as the politicl levy remins opt out too much money at stake.if the Tories had any sense they would amend the law to make political levies opt in I wont be holding my breath.

  17. 28
    sussex carol says:

well a bit embarrassing for militwit – it says loud and clear he has no influence with the unions – they have all the power.

    • 56
      Anonymous says:

Yes the hard-right would love that. And yet, if the nasty and evil unions had THAT much power and influence – would not Labour policy be to reinstate union rights? Clearly, Ed M would be weak and foolish if he was to walk into your trap, of breaking the proud and long-standing links with Trade Unions. And so, it was good news when David went to work for his Uncle Sam.

  18. 29
Sunderland is a Labour ghetto thats why its shyte says:

Off topic. The Australian Supreme Court has ruled Gay Marriage illegal in the ACT so making the marriages that have already taken place nil and void at the same time the Indian Supreme Court have upheld the law that criminlises buggery,Sod me what a gay day

Common sense seems to prevail in some parts of some parts of our increasingly weird planet.

    Behold the new robber baron.

  20. 36
    mraemiller says:

Open primaries are retarded. Yeah, let’s get people who aren’t members or affiliates to chose our candidates. It worked for Cameron – he schismed the Tory party and created UKIP in attempts to make it not look like what it is.

  21. 44
    Penfold says:

Nice to learn that Labour are totally independent and will dream up their own policies.
Red Ed should realise the realities, he is merely a mouthpiece for others, a red sock puppet or muppet if you will.
The next election, with any luck, will see the current party exceed Kinnocks’ record by a wide margin.

  22. 46

Calls himself leader of Labour I call it a liberty. It’s Trade Union Mafia Power innit?

    • 47
      A Taxpayer says:

If you have been stupid to work for as long as possible and pay your taxes and N.I. and also be stupid enough to put a little money aside each month for your old age, you really are a Pratt, because if there comes a time when you need help from the state, due to ill health they will say no, you cant work but you have some money in the bank, it doesn’t matter that you have paid in for decades you get nothing.
A good analogy would be winning the lottery going to the office to collect the money and find that they have looked at your finances and say you have got enough money so we aren’t going to pay out.
It seems that paying in counts for nothing, but if you are a scumbag with multiple kids from multiple , unknown fathers you are fawned upon and provided with all your needs (alcohol, fags etc.) .
It’s a great system no wonder the country is on its backside.

  23. 48

Now this whole thing really does show labour/union symbiosis under a floodlight for all to see .

Basically the unions are saying even if we only have say twenty percent of our members opting in to plp membership we still want our FIFTY percent share of block vote at conference for all time .

Neither Tamany Hall nor the Politburo can give lessons to Unite on this one .

The phrase ” We propose the following … ” in Unite s response is to be taken as reading ” We pay the piper so we call the tune …. amdroid !”

  24. 49
    Vote Ed get Len. says:

Len McCluski sees Labour as an extension to his power. He is not going to relinquish it without a fight. Ed will be nothing more than Len’s ventriliquist dummy. A pair of communist creeps with subtle creeping communist policies is slowly becoming apparent with the wiser part of the public. The rest of the public must wake up and see that Labour are sleep walking us into a socialist state.

A vote for Ed is a vote for Len!

  25. 50
    Socialist Mug! says:

Why doesn’t McCluski and his fellow commies set up their own party. It won’t be big but it still gives them a voice in a democratic context!

In the spirit of communism, Len can have that idea for free!

  26. 53
    Anonymous says:

This time, Tory Boy has really out-done himself – sexing up his tied old dis-information. If he could get away with it, would he not try to blame all this wind and rain on the Labour Party?
