Prezza Attacks Tony and Gordon for Thatcher Funeral

Powerful stuff from John Prescott in his Sunday Mirror column where he frothed about Maggie one last time. Prezza went off on one about the Tories hijacking her funeral:

“Even in death, she is spinning from her grave. She claimed she never wanted a state funeral, but she planned to give herself the same ceremonial one as the Queen Mother. And her “children”, the out-of-touch Tory Boys Cameron and Osborne, are getting YOU to foot the £10million bill for the biggest political propaganda exercise this country has ever seen. This is what “Operation True Blue” is about. It’s not a remembrance. It’s a rebrand.”

So what does he have to say about the news that the full funeral plan, including scale and therefore price-tag, was signed off by both Tony Blair (who Prezza was Deputy to) and Gordon Brown? The biggest political propaganda exercise this country has ever seen” – devised under his Labour government.

Prezza has certainly cost the country much, much more than 10m with his stupid ideas, stealing a lane from the M4, massive IT projects for the ODPM with no purpose, freebees, junkets, expenses and unexplained credit card splurges.
In addition, he has never, ever, not even once added any value to our once great country.
Unless (and I am saying unless because I don’t know if he was or not) – unless he was once a decent waiter. Which I very much doubt!

Trust me war is not nice to anybody but it’s not murder. The Belgrano had the means to threaten UK troops and assets. Who knows what would have happened if the ship were not sunk? No commander would allow that to happen. It’s war -lots of people being forced to make horrible decisions. Whether 17 year olds should have been on board is another question.

If you think war is murder, your case might have come credibility if you chose to pursue the Argies on this point. They sent untrained ill-equipped kids up against some elite British formations.

2008 Britain is very different from 2013 austerity Britain, and in the 3 years the current government has been in power they really should have thought to review the plans in case the jamboree would backfire. If some conservatives are blaming Brown for the scale of the funeral and the backlash against it,then why is the government adding to the fire by banning Big Ben’s ding dongs?
It really is desperate stuff to blame today’s reaction on plans made 5 years ago in a totally different political and economic climate. To not even review the plans in the 3 years they’ve been in power suggests a touch of omnishambles.
Conservatives have to move on from their fixation with Brown and take some personal responsibility. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised, if upon losing the next election, if some conservatives laid the blame of electoral defeat at Gordon’s feet.
Move on. Brown is yesterday’s man and plans are chopped and changed all the time. Already this government has changed many labour policies, they could have done likewise if they disagreed with the scale and expense of the funeral.

      Grow up.

Even in NuLabour’s third term they were still blaming Thatcher.

Politics today is the culture of blame, balme everyone else other than yourselves.

Labour signed orff the event and costs, it isn’t the job of “Call me Dave” to review, BUT, Labour knowing the costs, could have raised debate over it in the house or privately if they wanted to avoid the embarrassment of discusing funeral costs publicly. They didn’t.

So what you’re saying is that it isn’t the job of government to review previous policy? That’s a new one on me. Immutable policy set in stone, never to be reviewed or changed.
All I’m saying is that a funeral plan made in 2008 bubble Britain, before the popping of the credit bubble, would be a very different to one required in 2013 austerity Britain, a Britain where people are arbitrarily punished for having a spare room when there are no suitable properties to move into and terminally ill people are found ‘fit-for-work’. That’s all I’m saying.
A more long sighted government would’ve taken account of the change in economic circumstance and changed the plans accordingly, instead of politicking the funeral further by getting the Queen involved and silencing Big Ben’s ding dongs.

Ding dongs? You want us to take you seriously when you use the word ding dongs? Really?

Perhaps a more long sighted Labour government in the past would have thought about the economy and the the issue of £10 million wouldn’t be such an issue to some? I don’t know perhaps not dragging us into 2 war that have cost billions in money and worse still hundreds of British lives.

BTW the word you want is chimes. Ding dongs FFS……

How much has right on Tony Blair and his human rights champion treasonous wife made off his premiership?
