The Crown Court at Southwark
Daily List for Tuesday 22 January 2013

Court 3 – sitting at 12:00 AM

For Mention
HUHNE Christopher
PRYCE Vasiliki

Order made under Contempt of Court Act 1981

Guido might just have to lunch in those parts tomorrow.

  1. 1
    Owen Jones says:

In no way have I or will I ever call for setting up a UKIP of the left!

  2. 2
    Old Blue Eyes says:

If it’s “for mention” does that not mean that the trial is not taking place but merely adjourned.

    • 4
      Carter Ruck says:

      No sir.

Cases listed for mention in court are usually to fix a date for trial or agree outstanding
issues. They can sometimes lead to a change of plea.

      • 8
        Old Blue Eyes says:

Isn’t that more or less what I said.

      • 153
        lojolondon says:

Oh, yes. Plead guilty and go down! 100 years for destroying the British energy systems. I know it is too short, but it is what the LimpDims want – ‘fairness in society’.

      • 324
        Handycock (Teen Fondler) says:

Cross hairs rubbish like with me. Don’t worry Chris the Grand Master has fixed things for you. Boaz.

    • 15
      Old Tory Bigot says:

I fear the cross-hairs are premature.

Convicting a supremely well-connected politician like Huhne is the legal equivalent of nailing a jelly to a wall.

      • 19
        Lol says:

You just know that he will get off. I bet Clegg is touching cloth.

      • 37
        Jimmy says:

Cross hairs here usually means they’re going to get away with it.

        • 69

          It always means that.

          Unless it does not.

          • Handycock (Teen Fondler) says:

Cross hairs rubbish like with me. Don’t worry Chris the Grand Master has fixed things for you. Boaz.

        • 111
LimpDum MPs: people so thick even Labour rejected them. says:

‘Get away with it’ is perhaps being a bit inaccurate. I suspect, come May 2015, he won’t get away with it. I suspect he, and his miserable Party of cretinous Illiberal scum, get well and truly shafted.

And I also bet, because the LimpDums never think ahead (because that requires intellect), that he’s made no plans for the bleak future (without taxpayers’ money) that will soon be knocking at his door.

          • Anonymous says:

Well no, they just get to relax with their haul of troughings.
For some reasons morons think that a politician not getting elected is some kind of hardship for them.

          • It doesn't add up... says:

Well, Carina, what was it you saw in multi-millionaire BTL portfolio owner Christopher Huhne?

He won’t starve even if he’s thrown out of politics.

        • 169
          Anonymous says:

Yes Jimmy, please explain how Baroness Scotland got away with contravening a law which she herself helped put in place. Hmmmmmm….

    • 127
      Blowing Whistles says:

Re Carter Fcuk – As I poisted here some weeks ago – it’s a bit late to change a plea – as the courts only (their words and deeds) look favourably on “an early guilty plea”. N.B. Huhne has failed to enter a plea; while Pryce entered an early plea of not guilty citing several historical defences some time ago.

The fact that this debacle still continues / drags [Queen pun intended] on- brings contempt upon Huhne his hughne fee earning legal beagles oh and the Dim Libs party BECAUSE the “damage” is done. Huhu’gene’ is a hugeune liabiltiy to the dim libs no matter the outcome. He’s a lose-lose liability

And result upon result is that the legal and judicial system – need to be very careful how they tread – on the oft abused citation of what is “IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST” …

Is someone taking my name in vain ?

Like her I do, the Mensch. Glad she has left the Dave Cee tribe I am. She’ll go far, less well boxed in by the tory mad machine she was brainwashed to suffer.

  5. 6
    rebekah aka nellnewman says:

I can’t imagine the state would take so many weeks over trying anyone of us for this motoring offense. We’d have been found guilty and sentenced in under a day!

How much is this trial thingy of his costing us?!! And why??!!

    • 20
      Lol says:

Why don’t you put in an FOI request??!!

      • 27
        rebekah aka nellnewman says:

Suspect we’ll have to wait until after the trial is over for that – it’ll all be embargoed or sub judice or just plain top secret for the mo.

Why his motoring offense case has been so secret one can only imagine! But it doesn;t exactly make him look like a politician that you want anywhere near the levers of power does it?!

        • 108
Justice not being seen to be done says:

Why the hell is this case not being heard in an open court ?

          • Blowing Whistles says:

JUSTICE IS in these days and ages BLIND to the truth – that’s why …. oh and he’s probably been pleading about getting a fair trial / sub judice etc etc – which Joe public in 2009 around Hants / Winchester didn’t get!

Coming to get all the mongrels who were blind to being suborned to the Hollow men who hid in the background. Lets see the mo.d boys publish this.

          • Blowing Whistles says:

from BW – stunned they let it go out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • 113
      Chas says:

They are not being tried for a motoring offence but for PERVERTING THE COURSE OF JUSTICE which is considered to be a very serious offence.

    • 118
      Chas says:

They are not being tried for a motoring offence but for the much more serious charge of PERVERTING THE COURSE OF JUSTICE.

He is succeeding in this as I am avoiding it more and more.

Seems Guido/Neo are either indulging this idiot because they think he’s amusing or they don’t give a shit about their regular readers.

Guido, just automod embedded YouTube content FFS. It’s not difficult,

Most YouTube clips add nothing anyway.

Much to my annoyance, no 24-hour clock mode so stuck with stupid AM/PM display.

I blame the Americans for this. They hang on to AM/PM, put their dates in the wrong order and insist on using inches, gallons and hogsheads as units of measurement.

Yeah it’s me, all right? You happy with that technicality? Only two were official– the “second” was a photo op with the Chief Justice, who flubbed his lines at the “real” swearing-in, and since yesterday was a Sunday and today is a bank holiday Monday for Martin Luther King’s Birthday, today’s swearing-in was a recreation of yesterday’s official swearing-in in the Oval Office, so I could hold the parades and deliver my Inaugural Address.

Franklin D Roosevelt actually served 4 terms.

The wording is defined article 2, section 1 clause 8:

It’s spelt “Hospital”, but it’s actually pronounced, “NHS Soviet-era deathcamp and abattoir, abandon all hope because the nurses are going to derive great pleasure by leaving you to suffer and die because they’ve got far more important things to do than care for you, they have degrees in Media Studies, you know”.

‘Hospital’ is so much more concise.

      • 143
        rebekah aka nellnewman says:

It’s not that the nurses derive any pleasure from their neglect of patients – it’s simply that they are too busy drinking coffee/tea and gossiping in their common room to be bothered about looking after anybody.

Visiting my elderly Mum a while back in Peterborough Hospital I found the lady in the next bed collapsed on the floor!! Patients including Mum were frantically ringing bells to get help and no nurses came. Went looking for nurses and found them down a corridor in a lounge laughing and joking and drinking coffee/tea. Very annoyed they were to be disturbed and told to look after patients!!

Peterborough Hospital is not a good place to be if you are old, sick and in need of nursing!!

It’s great to know that all the tens of billions of pounds of our money that One-term Dave is spraying over the Third World is having such a positive affect.

I mean, I thought the money could perhaps not be borrowed in the first place because we’re broke, or if it had to be borrowed, could be spent here, in the UK, but what a fool I am! Dave “Lord Snooty” Cameron knows best: borrow like it’s going out of fashion and blow it all on third-world shit-holes, and then feel ‘pride’ when the recipients demonstrate their gratitude by rounding-up and killing British people.

It isn’t the money which is being spent which is having an effect. That will buy people temporarily, but isn’t really enough to create this sort of vibe.

Dave does come across as a bit of a dipstick to us, so imagine how the schmuck is perceived abroad. Total douche is probably being polite, hence he very likely does not have many friends out there.

Final point on why people appear to be working against us. This is more likely to do with the fact that some idiots in the previous administration thought it was a good idea to bring ‘peace and democracy’ to parts of the world which didn’t really want it. What is being reaped now is the understandable reaction against liberal values being imposed.

Looking to the future, these activities abroad could be starting much closer to home soon if people start reacting as they should towards the EU imposition. That, one fears, may have already started.

Risk in the purest sense can be managed, but not all of it. The trade off for perfect risk management is complete loss of liberty.

As far as financial gain is concerned, as we are shortly to learn, it doesn’t matter how much money you have, what counts is access to raw resources and having the means to gain access. Being trusted and considered honest is much more efficient than the gun. Soft power is better than hard.

Given that the BBC has had to run stories telling everyone that people abroad love the UK post Olympics, I suspect we should probably start getting armed.

          • Ch!na Watch says:

@SC: Totally off topic, thought you may find this article interesting:

Connected with South Korea and how they perceive possibility of Abe winning Diet elections.

Reads a lot like heavy propaganda, but gives a very good insight into some one of the dynamics which I thought may be churning away out there.

If you have been checking the news you will be aware that there are several Ch!nese military ships in the waters of the disputed islands now. This should be a quick war, if shots are fired.

          • It is a very complex picture with the fortunes of both countries ebbing and flowing in opposing cycles to each other. But where this might have been seen almost as counterpoint before, it looks increasingly like dissonance now.

As you said elsewhere, we are likely to see raw aggression from China who had chosen a different path over the relinquishment of ΗΚ (you have to use Greek chars to print that here!) under an older set of leaders. There is also the harvest problem looming with this cold winter in the entire northern hemisphere.

But it also seems to me that the new lot don’t want to play the long game any more. Strategically they will be overtaken by India in my view and I saw that Farage was saying something along those lines in a very good video posted here earlier today. To save you looking, I will post the link without making it come up here as another bloody vid!

jlYbubyGerE – It is 33 minutes long but well worth watching and covers a broad range. I would like to have a transcript.

But you are right. Japan has another long period of humiliation in store by the looks of things.

          • Ch!na Watch says:

Agree with you on dissonance + thanks for the Farage link, watched that earlier and he is very close to the mark: Cannot say spot on as it hasn’t happened just yet.

There are accusatory fingers pointing at the US from some quarters which is curious. The US pivot may be speeding events, but the state department has been treading very carefully here. Ch!na may be betting on defense cuts staying their hand.

Food is going to be the key. People may put up with hunger if their government is victorious. Tightening control on the fishing in the area could be a security issue for Ch!na at this point.

The Soy issue is locked in now, and that has been known about for a while.

Just very concerning hearing this kind of rhetoric coming out. Those are very strong words for folk over there and really put Japan in a position where it will be very difficult to back down.

          • It is true that the eastern concept of honour is ancient and yet we see so many instances where Japan’s people publicly abase themselves in a way that makes IACGMOOH look tame.

It has been going on for some time and I dare say that the defeat in WW2 has some influence here. The honour aspect is difficult for a westerner to understand without the addition of this contrary overlay.

The situation when compared with China becomes similar to the Mohammed and mountain one. Of course, contrary to expectations, something does give but it is the outcome which is nearly always unpredictable.

We all live in interesting times.

Other blogs deal with the names etc. but in absence of hard evidence and a guilty verdict it is easy to end up in a McLibel situation, or worst, trashing someone who is innocent. • 254

…the fact that we are created equal is a lunatic’s assertion.

Before the criminal law, maybe notionally, although we see plenty of evidence to question that (look at the top of the page for an example.)

But how far can one carry this so-called equality, especially where it is manifestly untrue? Are we all equally intelligent? Equally happy? Equally rich (or poor)? Equal size? Equal in lifespan, love and luck?

And just supposed all these qualities were redistributed with scrupulous fairness? Exactly how many nanoseconds would such equality subsist?

Those who fall short in any capacity fall for this claptrap hook, line and sinker. It’s very presence as an argument creates a class of people who will look to some outside force to put things right that most of the time, not all admittedly, they should be sorting themselves.

      Arseholes to it!

Men and women simply are not equal. That has been proven.

Any arguments which promote equality generally disguise the fact that they deny established value systems.

Applying the equality argument to marriage is a fallacy as marriage is a union between man and woman. This is as fallacious as arguing that atheists and theists should be treated equally by the church.

One should never underestimate the power of feminine charm.

Feminism does women no favors by encouraging ignorance of that power, which makes women easier prey to men of certain tastes. However, by that same token, women should be kept under a certain degree of control in order to make sure that those who understand their power do not misuse it.

Many wars have been started by women, and many men have fallen victim to female scorn. Whenever the discussion of domestic violence and murder of women is brought up, just remember that as many men die however the woman is not counted as murderess as she typically bewitches or pays for another man to do her deed.

Having made and broken a public vow in a Civil Partnership, then had an affair with a married man and helped break up his marriage, she reckons she’s the one who is being harassed because people think she’s a scumbag.

Apparently it has never occurred to her to try keeping her word or her knickers up, or maybe not behaving badly in public. No, it is all the fault of the press for reporting it and us for thinking she’s a sleaze.

    • 257
      UK Watch says:

      Fully agree with your point.

The press though was not the correct conduit for getting the point across about Trimmingham’s indiscretion or the reasons why her moral conduct should be condemned.

The larger crime here though is that she is using her amoral actions to perpetrate an even larger amoral action through providing support to the case for press regulation, hence restriction of liberty of press.

In more enlightened societies she would be sent packing and left to fix her affairs. If her campaign gains any credible traction then perhaps the mu55ie patrols should be set on her.

Does it have anything to do with Chris Bryant’s former election agent and Labour party member Stephen Carnell, jailed for downloading 12,000 images of child pornography?
He swapped extreme images of sadism and bestiality with other paedos in what was described by Welsh police as the most serious case they’d dealt with.

Is that the sort of porn Abbott is talking about?

So he is on trial for perverting the course of justice and the courtroom proceedings cannot be reported in case it jeopardises his trial. How can reports of court proceedings jeopardise the outcome? I can understand it in preliminary proceedings but not when the case actually comes before a jury.

Rod Liddle on the loony UN sexism special rapporteur:

“There is more sexism in Britain than in any other country in the world, according to a mad woman who has been sent here by the United Nations.

Rashida Manjoo is a part-time professor of law at Cape Town University in the totally non-sexist country of South Africa (otherwise known as Rape Capital Of The World).

Mrs Magoo has been wandering around with her notebook and is appalled by the sexist “boys’ club” culture here, apparently.

I don’t doubt we still have sexism in the UK. But is it worse than in, say, Saudi Arabia, d’you think, honey-lamb? Or about 175 other countries? Get a grip, you doolally old bat.”
