Why stop at two blogs, Guido? You could have one for Tory thieves, one for Liebour thieves, one for the Limp Dumbs….the possibilities are endless. But don’t expect me to visit them – this one is fine. Don’t try to mend what isn’t broke.

Considering the current rise of authoritarianism, referred to elsewhere here, Guido’s blog is in the most danger unless one happens to be in the ever widening area of the religion of peace, in which case it’s the Rabbi that cops it.

Well said BBC. This punk group Pussy riot are blasphemous and totally lacking in any respect for the Russian President and therefore the Russian people. The two year sentence is symbolic of the leniency and decency of the great Vladimir Putin. They would have been much more severely punished in this country! Ecuador is in the news and there are two laws there that would do this country a deal of good, namely a three month automatic gaol sentence for either criticising the President or anyone who works for the Government. Boaz.

The internet opened doors all over the place, and they are busily trying to shut them, but are you really comparing things sensibly to what happened 20 or 40 years ago?

            Like

          • Whilst I understand and appreciate your question, SP4BS, I was not making a comparison with that far back. Rather to the position a decade or slightly more ago. Russian was still smarting from the breakup of its empire. USA was pre-Bush2. Even Blair was introducing FOI, notwithstanding all the other considerable harm he was doing. The internet appeared unstoppable.

I make no predictions. I only warn against bad paths for us to take.
