Jobcentre Plus Denies Letting Scroungers Cheat System

Tonight’s episode of Dispatches investigates claims that Jobcentre Plus is allowing thousands of unemployment benefit recipients to cheat the system. Guido understands that this morning Jobcentre Plus directors emailed a vehement rebuttal to staff at the Department of Work and Pensions as they prepare for the coming storm. Watch this space…

Iran Ignores Earthquake Tragedy

The Iranian government has been accused of ignoring the devastating earthquake that killed 300 of its people over the weekend. Press TV, Iran’s state television channel, failed to mention the disaster while bonkers President Mahmoud Ahmadienjad and supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei took over a day to issue a response. Guido has taken a look at Press TV‘s website and has yet to find anything on the tragedy. There was, however, a story about how the Olympics have apparently been infiltrated by Zionists:

HuffPo Launches TV Channel, Begs for Viewers

In the next few minutes Huffington Post UK are launching a new online television channel. Guido was amused to find that rather than advertise all the fantastic big name stars HuffPo had convinced to take part, they have instead sent out a message begging their readers to watch and even send in contributions. At least it’ll probably be better than Al Jazeera’s Cafe…

Wandsworth Labour Threaten to Call Police Over Tory Fraud

The Wandsworth Guardian have picked up the growing scandal at Wandsworth Tories. Leader of Wandsworth Labour Party, Councillor Rex Osborn is getting involved as well, threatening police action:

“The allegations of misuse of Conservative funds are very serious and may be a matter for the police. We welcome the move by Councillor Govindia to suspend Councillor Morritt while the matter is being investigated. There are questions to be answered when these allegations were first known to Wandsworth Council. If there is any evidence that they have covered up the wrong doing as long back as 2010 they must say so before this issue damages the reputation of Wandsworth Council.”

You have to wonder who else above Wandsworth Council knew too…

Mail Online Removes Nazi Endorsement

It might be some 80 years since the Daily Mail ran a leader entitled ”Hurrah for the Blackshirts“, but that hasn’t stopped RightMinds‘ Dominique Jackson from scoring a particularly awkward Nazi-inspired own goal. Dominique wrote:

“The German slogan “Arbeit Macht Frei” is somewhat tainted by its connection with Nazi concentration camps, but its essential message, “work sets you free” still has something serious to commend it. There is dignity to be gained from any job, no matter how menial, and for young people at the start of their careers, there are valuable lessons to be learned from any form of employment, whether that is on the factory floor, on a supermarket till or in the contemporary hard labour camp of a merchant bank or law office.”

The offending paragraph has now been removed without explanation…

Guardian Slapped Down Over Oxbridge Hypocrisy

Saturday’s Guardian ran a scathing attack piece criticising Oxford and Cambridge universities as representative of everything that is wrong with society. Although apparently Oxbridge “doesn’t matter“, Lucy Mangan reckons it is still “a tangible symbol of the subtle, pernicious, destructive system we live with and, by and large, accept“. Scroll down and online readers can lay their eyes upon perhaps the best comment in the history of the paper:

Tom Harris bemoans the public’s attitude to politicians…

“Mr Oborne echoes the lazy, anti-politics whine we hear so often these days, all based on the absurd notion that politicians were once loved and only fell out of public favour during the expenses scandal. He should take a walk to the Strangers’ Bar. But not to sup with the patrons he seems to despise so much, dearie me, no; he should instead look at the paintings on the corridor outside the bar, which depict the devastating fire which consumed most of the Palace in 1834. And he should reflect on the fact that on that dramatic night, as the Commons went up in flames, a crowd gathered on the South Bank to clap and cheer.”

Harold Macmillan says:

” Evans, dear boy, Evans “
