Piers Plummets Once Again

Regular Media Guido readers will be aware of Piers Morgan’s ratings woes in recent months. In June Jon Stewart twisted the knife, while others piled in as the beleaguered talk show host dragged CNN to a 21-year low. There has been no reprieve in July either, with the latest figures revealing that Piers’ show is down by almost 20% year-on-year for total viewers and by 25% in the crucial 25-54 age range. It could be worse, at least he’s not on NBC…

Piers’ plummeting ratings come four days after CNN chief Jim Walton quit after taking the bullet for the network’s torrid recent performance.

You have to wonder who will be next to go…

    Kebab Time says:

Maybe its because he is rubbish and not funny.

    Mike Litorus says:

Hopefully not him, or the cnut will be back over here on our fucking screens. *bricks telly just incase*

      Ava Banana says:

Then he can go and see that nice Brian fellow at that enquiry we all seem to have forgotten about.

        barry normal film critic says:

are you the ava banana that starred in bawami junction and was fleetingly married to frank sinatra??

  4. 5
    Morgan=Weak says:

    Everything he touches, he ruins.

    You means its a surprise???

  6. 7
What do you expect from the left (BBC)... says:

Oh dear Mike Litorus you have a point. Lets face it the BBC would snap him up. Lets hope he gets a better offer in Belarus or similar !

  7. 9
    The Paragnostic says:

However much we malign Morgan, the fact remains that he’s still £40K up on the Viglen deal, an opportunity denied to those of us who weren’t mates with the City Slickers during those heady pump ‘n’ dump days at the Mirror.

  8. 10
MAD FRANKIE HADDOCK son of COD says:

WWhy is he still there ?
He has more lives than a sack of cats

  9. 11
    Tay King-dePisse says:

The Yanks aren’t as stupid as Piers seems to think they’d be, with his haughty I’m-the-smartest-bloke-in-the-room attitude and their perceived fawning over anyone with a somewhat-posh-sounding accent. You can put shite in a pretty box, with plenty of gold wrapping paper and a nice pink bow, but it’s still going to reek of shite, and when the box is opened, you’ll quickly understand why. And CNN wonders why FOX is drubbing them in the cable ratings. But fear not, Yank perusers of this page– leave it to MSNBC to come to Piers’s rescue! Why not, they seem to have a death wish anyway.

(Aside to Neo: “torrid,” as of posting? Sarcastic, or a misprint by the intern of “horrid’? We must be told!)

Look, don’t gloat about this, because if his show gets cancelled he’ll come back to the UK. We need to encourage the yanks to watch. He’s their problem now.

  11. 13
    Stephen says:

As a now redundant ex-squaddie can I just say, in a reserved & calm British manner that befits my regiment – I cannot wait for Piers to hit the gutter where he belongs.

  12. 14
    Gordo McBust says:

    Good luck Piers!

  13. 16
    American in London says:

There are small pockets of liberal lefties that still watch – even they in truth find him to be an irritating smug limey – he is toast.

CNN will already be sounding out his replacement. In fact I bet they are at contract stage.

  14. 17
General the Lord Pritchard Dammit says:

Morgan endangered our troops. Feller should be sent on a nature ramble at Warcop tank ranges.

  15. 22
    keredybretsa says:

Piers thinks he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Now he’s gonna get really sliced!

  16. 23
David Cameron Is A Cunt! says:

CNN have been generally haemorraging viewers ever since they went all left wing. Morgan is useless and uninteresting as well as a mindless lefty so he does epitomise everything that is now wrong with CNN in general.

Still hopefully the long arm of Inspector Knacker will be saving us all from much more of his drivel and putting him away for a decent stretch for phone hacking carried out by the Mirror on his watch.

  17. 24
    Anonymous says:

I was hoping he had a terminal illness. Proper disappointed now!

  18. 26
    Harry Krishna says:

He should get about with some real people who could tell him he is as genuine as Gordon Browns budget figures.

  19. 29
    50 Calibre says:

I can’t think of one good reason why I should watch Morgan’s show, but I can think of lots of reasons why I don’t want to watch this pile of supercilious shit in my house.

Tells you a lot about CNN, which I have stopped looking at too…

Mycroft says:

Have you read the last bit of Animal Farm?

You know where the animals are looking through the Farmhouse window?

My TV screen was that window at lunch-time today.

Be careful, the sudden self-congratulatory tone, the slightly pudgy outline of indulgence and you become exactly what you should despise.

The jolly face of the Quisling Cameron poses for your camera has mesmerised and deceived you, you who were once not so deceived.

You were no firebrand, you were a damp squib in my opinion, sorry.

You need a damned good kick up the ahse!
