Calamity Chris

Chris Huhne has a track record of both dishonesty and blaming minions:

His career depends on one former aide and the size of the papers’ cheque-books. No doubt Huhne will be fighting these allegations with “the simple sword of truth and the trusty shield of British fair play” though.

            Both appear dishonest to me.

            Time for a purge in wiping Lie Dems off the political map. It appears they do not have any values above their desire for power of government.

            Who would be stupid enough to enter a coalition setting out party policy that would not be compromised and then agree to put Lie Dem ministers in charge of the dept where they could not oppose their own policy?? Answer: Clegg and Cable on tuition fees. Political stupidity.

            Their desire for power of government overrode every other consideration. Including what their supporters might think. They got less of the vote at the last election and got hammered last week and they still do not care about their supporters. Political suicide.

            When is Laws to be investigated by the police? When is Clegg going to refer him for investigation?? Clegg was going to clean up politics- no more broken promises. When is Laws going to be investigated??

            Cameron call an election for god sake!!!

          • Iloathlefties says:

            Just another useless lying, fiddling stupid politician who has a wrong opinion on everything other than what we want. An EU referendum, no more foreign aid, especially to Pakistan, stop mass migration and get rid of the Human Rights Act so we can deport criminals. Simples……… exept to our weezil politicians. The Tory led coalition has had a year and where are we on these subjects? No where. More broken promises from Camerhoon.

          Someone should be able to check the camera and picture taken and then verify against stories of where they were and at what times. Jail them. Then investigate Laws. While you are at it the police need to investigate Campbell who got off lightly from Lyons with his Dolphin Square scam and the taxpayer remains out of pocket, Lie Dem thieving scum. We need more independent police investigations. Politicians were quick to react over phone hacking shite. Go on sort out the House of Corruption.

          The public can be very fickle. Support for the tories is there but still is fairly soft. Cameron would need a very very strong case to screw the lib-dems.

          So this is why they need to give the lib-dems a shit load of rope with which to hang themselves. Anything that is not 200% justified would be spun by the liberals and labour and ad infinitem by the BBC as evil, tribal, ruthless tories shafting those poor innocent lib-dems. Poor sensitive lambykins that they are.

  21. 44
    Engineer says:

    While we’re on the subject of Huhne, let’s have a quick look at the country’s electricity supply policy.

    1) We’re going to build lots of windmills off the shores of North West Scotland, despite there being no significant grid connection to anywhere that needs the power – assuming the windmills generate much.

    2) We’re still a bit undecided about replacing existing nuclear stations, despite the fact that they’ll be gradually withdrawn from service over the next fifteen years or so.

    3) We’re not going to replace our coal-fired stations, despite the EU insisting that we turn ‘em off in a about three years.

    4) We’re not (so far as I know) adding to our gas-fired stations.

    5) Demand is likely to exceed supply in about 5 years, and the above measures probably won’t cover the shortfall.

    6) If anybody does build any coal-fired stations, they must be fitted with unproven technology using about 20 – 25% of the station’s output to bury plant food.

    Doesn’t really fill you with confidence, does it?

    • 51
      Backwoodsman says:

      Its actually worse than that. The latest study has shown the government wind farm output projections to be about as optimistic as the bbc’s YES to AV projections – about double reality!

      • 54

        Windfarms measure capacity by household.
        One windmill powers ‘X’ households.

        Problem is they treat a household as 4 lightbulbs.
        So if anyone is using more than 4 bulbs worth of power you are consuming more than you’re share.

        • 58
          Sir William Waad says:

          The possibilities are:

          1. A last-minute panic under which inefficient and potentially dangerous old power stations are codged together and kept going;

          2. We buy our electricity from France;

          3. Rationing;

          4. People dying of hypothermia, industry and commerce badly damaged;

          5. Foresighted and realistic central planning.

            re. option 5. ooh Sir Will you’re ‘aving a larf, you are

      Mr Nice says:

      Could always generate electricity by incinerating Labour’s supporters in specially constructed ovens. Once they are annihilated and their 48″ plasma TVs, Sky+ and xBoxes are disconnected, the nation’s reduced electricity requirements will easily be met by existing energy supplies.

    • 56
      Nemo says:

      Windpower is only fill in power generation works when there’s wind, there is an awful lot of wind coming out of HoC unfortunately because of continual shutdowns that’s a none goer. The NCB was developing a new forn of power generation from coal (fluidised bed) that idea was flogged off to Germany on or about denationalisation so we would have to pay through the nose to utilise that, trouble with that coal is now imported. Nuclear power stations if all costs are taken into consideration are very expensive, too much bi product which has to be disposed of very carefully and of course transported under high security because of the threat of terrorism. Gas seems a bit of non goer now because of the instability of the world price of gas as is oil electricity generation. As you say engineer in does no fill you with confidence.

    ITV sack a guy to get some in Midosmers Murders where realistically there are none.
