And while I’m on a rant against politicians, when are they going to be subject to these tough decisions? I don’t see their gold plated and unaffordable pension scheme being reduced in anyway, or their extremely generous expenses being reduced (they did amend them to reduce fraudulent claims but they even managed to get that watered down).

There are 61 million people in the UK but only around 100,000 unrepresentative ones “clearly spoke” (read: kicked-in some shop windows) against cuts. But, you’re quite right – all of the cuts could be cancelled if Cameron stopped handing out (a) £10billion each year in foreign aid and (b) £11billion each year to the EU. That 19,165,730 people voted at all in the world’s most boring referendum ever is really quite amazing. I suspect the turnout would have been close to zero had the referendum been taken without anything else to vote for.

This Scottish ‘independence’ thing is a complete fraud. Scotland and England are joined by an Act of Union, they weren’t coerced, since they’d screwed their economy up (not helped by the failed Darien colony venture) and the only bailout was economic and political union with England. If they dissolve the union, then Scotland will become another socialist freebies for all Brussels dependent fiefdom. England will benefit massively economically if the Tories end up being almost permanently in power. Entrepreneurial Jocks will come south akin to the fashion they did leaving Scotland to build the British Empire. An ‘independent’ Scotland, do the SNP really get the potential consequences of this? Even the ‘Scottish’ oil which is a territorial and political myth, won’t keep the dole queues and free university educations going forever. How will they defend themselves? What will they produce and sell, how will they trade? I’ve gone through much of the SNPs material and I don’t see how their ideas match reality.
