+++ Students Smashing Up CCHQ +++

CCHQ staffers are a little worried apparently. Does the NUS, who organised the protest, support this French direction? Time for the tear gas…

UPDATE: Molotov cocktail spotted thrown at CCHQ.

UPDATE II: We didn’t start the fire:

UPDATE III: Invasion of the Tower cleared, police being stoned and bricked as they try to push back the crowd. Well more fun than a lecture eh?

UPDATE IV: Riot police are surrounding LibDem HQ to make sure the same doesn’t happen there. Crowds are gathering at Cowley Street

UPDATE V: Flaring up again and police still not in control. Understand Millbank Tower and 30 Millbank (CCHQ) are in the process of being evacuated.

UPDATE VI: Reports of serious glass and concrete injuries and that medics can not get through. The woeful planning and incitement by the NUS President Aaron Porter is going to make his position very tricky. MI5 have shut down Thames House and the red flag has been raised above CCHQ:

Riot police kitting up…

Daily Telegraph reports that Cameron admits tuition fee increase will keep costs down for foreign students.

EU students do not pay tuition fees in Scotland where in contrast English, Irish and Welsh students do. We are giving free university education to our continental cousins when costs for British students are trebled- good economic plan Dave. Perhaps we ought to nurture the talent of this country for our coutry’s prosperity, a bit like China, then one day we might get back in the industrial world!

Top university places should be going to British students – not foreigners.

          Blue says:

But the foreign Students have to pay the full costs and this is a BIG earner for Britain.

Remember the foreign students are their country’s brightest and come here to do the proper degree courses. They then go on to gain positions of power in their own country and remain friends with Britain thus generating more wealth for the UK.

          • Worthless Lib Dem pledge says:

EU students DO NOT pay tuition fees in Scotland, English, Irish and Welsh students do. Other foreign students are able to get student loans and it is unlikely that those who do will repay because we cannot chase them abroad. Your points are commonly advanced without any evidence to support them.

Obvious eh? I suppose that means you live in part of the country where no-one can be arsed getting their hands dirty.

Is it a surprise that there are places in Britain where things still get made?

          • Ken Lorp says:

We just need to get a few bankers down there to smoke cigars and wave wedges of £50 notes at all the poor students.

“Top university places should be going to British students – not foreigners.”

I think you’ll find that British students are very keen on foreigners. In fact in most circumstances they prefer them and would like to fill the whole country with them, not just universities.

          • Bitter pills and Riff Raff says:

Better than bloody northeners and commoners. Atleast with a johnny foreigner you can’t tell how well bred he is quite so easily.

          Katabasis says:

I’m sympathetic to your point, however in my experience of teaching, the Erasmus students put domestic British students to complete shame. I have firsts to all of my Erasmus students; their work was absolutely outstanding, and it was all in a second or third language for them. IMHO one of the main reasons the British students are so poor in comparison is the sense of entitlement.

Quite often, once I’ve finished chuckling, I feel sorry for you.

That sentiment comes over me as I ponder the possibility that you really do think this is a revolution.

London today was about as comparable to (eg) France in 1798 as your co-religionists’ cumulative jihadic murders in the West compare to WW1. By comparison, they are pinpricks. Extermely regrettable, especially in the latter case, but unlikely to destabilise the system.

And while we’re at it, can you tell me exactly what ‘revolution’ the soi-disant Malcolm X accomplished?

By the way, is the shirtless chap in the picture one of yours? And the chap kneeling to his right? And the grinning buffoon over his right shoulder? I enquire, merely.

Many other students at her university are posting to agree with her. They are very unimpressed with the rioters, and understand how much damage has been caused to their cause and how any sympathy the public may have had, has been obliterated by a few Marxist dickheads.

An old friend of mine from my student days, (he was a full-blooded Marxist back then in the 1980s) has just posted how delighted he is that they are rioting.

    • 550
      Ruth Kelly's plaything says:

I see the left more as taking advantage of fertile ground, rather than brainwashing yoof.

Lots of people, me among them all those years ago, start off with views from the far left, springing from young people’s sense of fairness. But they are simpletons in the ways of the world (hell, at 14 I really used to believe with passion that bread ought to be given free to everyone!).

Later, as experience takes root, the more thoughtful recognise that none of the left’s prescriptions works and that freedom for individuals to get on with their lives and take responsibility for themselves is the sole basis for a society that works, however imperfectly in some respects.

So I’m not perturbed by idealistic and misguided children – the people who do worry me are those who still cling to socialist dogma after the age of 30. Tariq Ali was on Any Questions the other day – an example of a deluded claptrap-monger if ever there was. He was nuts 30 years ago, which I can forgive, and he’s not got any saner since, which I cannot.

There are two in operation. One, the obvious one, is aimed at saving some dosh now (and that needs to be done).

PS Apologists. Imagine you have a son or daughter who is currently 14-15-16 years old. You would like them to go to University as he/she has the ambition to be a doctor/vet/nurse/lawyer or whatever. Need to have a Uni degree, 3 years X 9K = £27K, and that’s just the fees, not living costs or equipment included. To put your son or daughter through a degree is gonna cost at least £40,000 . So keep on apologising it will affect you too. – you just haven’t realised it yet !!!!!!

You will find that isn’t the “professional” students (those going on to do real work) protesting it will be the politics, economics, psychology, sociology, wastrels on the march. And there will be high percentage of students from the ethnic minorities too as they are more politicised. White kids would struggle to name anybody much beyond the PM

To be honest the kids going on to be doctors and nurses shouldn’t be paying anything. And they should be given accommodation too.

Hopefully the requirement to actually contribute towards one’s education and betterment might make many would-be students think twice before wasting years of their life on a pointless degree.

There is little point having 50% of our children going to university if the economy can only support 30% of graduate level jobs. The rest are in for an expensive disappointment. Better off leaving school and learning a trade. You never know, we might start aspiring to make things again.

The mob is slinging fire extinguishers off the roof at police down below. Several fires are burning in the building. A mob of several thousand students are still occupying the Tory HQ and some are fighting police. The building has been ransacked and students are throwing stolen computer tapes and files in the air.

Many struggle with maths and other ‘hard’ stuff, get disheartened and leave. Those chancers that somehow manage to weasel through via lecturers fearing for their jobs and wanting to be liked by students only serve to make the qualification not worth the paper it’s written on.

In a parliamentary answer David Miliband stated, “Like every other EU member state, and the United States, we regard Tibet as part of the People’s Republic of China”.

NUS – National Union of Scum. So, today we see the Left in action. These brain-dead fuckwits want the taxpayer to fund their education? Well they can fuck right off. Any sympathy I may have had with their plight over higher course fees has been blown out of the water by the actions of these marxists shits. They do not deserve a free education. They do not deserve anything from the taxpayer. They are trouble making scum. Some of them should be charged with attempted murder for throwing that fire extinguisher off the roof of Millbank. I’m glad that most of the trouble makers have been filmed and I hope they are looking forward to a knock on the door of their shit filled squats very soon.
Still, on the bright side there is some clearing up work to be done. Any unempoyed available?

      Snotrocket says:

I see where you’re coming from Stan. But what I would like to see is a return to the past where about 20-30% of the cream of youth went on to University, for free, because we knoew that the return on the country’s investment would be so great. Those that didn’t manage academia went on to earn well-paid jobs after a quality apprenticeship, and give back to the country taxes from the sweat off their brows.
And if you could only source that ideal with a quality education based on Grammar schools, all the better.
What the left fails to see is that we NEED an elite to run this country; to make the (taxable) profits that enable it to run; and to support our free(?) healthcare and further education. If only the left could acknowledge that their icons in parliament (Harman, anybody?) are themselves the elite they so despise.
So, let’s get this right: fewer students at Uni; a better quality of student coming from Grammar schools; and a better artisan skill-base coming from the comps.
      Is that so bad?

    Jonathan says:

Hope the Coalition Government stands firm. Half of the so-called universities could and should be closed down – ex polytechnics offering worthless degrees for mediocre students. Why do more and more of ouryoungsters need to go to university? A socialist scheme to keep down the unemployme figures. Put the tuition fees up sky high and have the majority of these work shy know-nothings (who think they know everything) find themselves a job. Most are dim-witted socialist layabouts and scroungers, being accorded educational opportunities they do not deserve in the first place.

      wasp says:

snotrocket & Jonathan- agree entirely. There are too many students doing frivolous and useless degrees in the former polytechnics and colleges of higher education. What’s more, they are hardly ever THERE: the ‘modular/credit system’ together with the vogue for ‘self directed learning’ means that students in these types of institutions don’t have to turn up much for lectures and tutorials, because there simply aren’t many on the timetable. It’s highly convenient for the lecturing staff, of course, and it does allow students plenty of time to get jobs and hit the clubs. And go to ‘peaceful demonstrations’.

Sorry mate, you are talking bollox.

It’s the former polys who are most likely toproduce worthwhile degrees.

It’s the redbricks who produce the meedja studdees and the oxbridges who produce the history and english mickey mouse degrees.
