Over-Spending Socialists Crushed in Elections

This situation maybe familiar: an over-spending left-of-centre government faces election, the centre-right opposition offers a promise of tax cuts and free market reforms to bring economic growth to a country which is on the verge of bankruptcy.

In Hungary overnight Fidesz have swept the socialists out of office winning 52% of the vote to the ruling party’s 19%.

The Fidesz party logo is an orange smiley face and this morning the smile is very broad…

Guido fact: Back in 1988 Fidesz were a little known rag-tag bunch of idealistic libertarian students under threat of arrest from the communists. The great David Hart, fresh from smashing Scargill’s thugs, channeled support to them from the West. Within a year Hungarian communism fell and Fidesz were in government. Another reason to recognise David Hart with an honour.

Alternatively…..The ultra-Conservative Fidesz party and its ally the Christian People’s Party took 206 seats in the 386-seat single-chamber Parliament, and is charged with forming a government by June. It is widely expected to be pushed further to the Right by the openly anti-Semitic Jobbik which is expected to have 26 seats in the new government.

  16. 16
A well hung Parliament please!!! ex BBC cunt, Ben 'buggering' Bradshaw says:

Yes perhaps Guido but clearly the Socialists there had not spent 13 years entrenching a client state of professional scroungers and fraudsters, and laughably had not encouraged it’s underclass of feral and feckless dregs to believe they can live a morality free existence.

Most damning however they utterly failed to encourage the notion that someone else will always pay the bills.

Im sorry loves, thats not Socialisms

Unfortunately, more than 19% of the UK electorate are complete morons and will vote for the half blind scottish maniac.

    They're All At It says:

I honestly hope and wish that SNP do really well in Scotland.

Liebour’s heartland – and significant amount of seats – come from Scotland. If they can be broken there (and that unfortunately ain’t going to happen with the Tories or LibDems), then the rest of the country may well be rid.

  21. 21
    Ratsniffer says:

The big problem in this country is all about labels. They are called “labour” or even “new labour” which all sounds cosy and cuddly and used to have a kind of “we stand up for those who work” type ring to it.

If they were called “The marxist party” or “the communists” things might be very different. Oh, they will deny they are either, in fact Tony Blair was certainly no marxist, but the point is, to get elected they need to pretend to be something else.

But take a peek at the political backgrounds of some of the cabinet, and many of their MPs…and of the union leaders who bankroll them. The far left has never gone away. It just got better at disguising itself.

  22. 22

Hey, we should get one of those centre-right oppositions here! Instead of this shower of lefty shite spurting from the cameroonie redoubt, leaving us voters with nowhere to put our X that doesn’t properl this country further into socialist HELL!

WTF is Cameron’s problem? And why on earth are the tory “grandees”, if we still have them, keeping so quiet about this wholesale demolition of tory values?

  23. 23
    scabtastic! says:

Scratch the surface of a socialist and everything is diseased, decayed, and rotten to the core.

  26. 26

I know. It’s looking good. The SNP have a very good strategy, plus the press up there appear to have started to get a little braver with regard to exposing Labour’s gangster connections. You’d think that even the BBC would be slightly interested in top level labour politicians being on first name terms with convicted gangsters, but it really doesnt’ appear to bother them at all. Is it *really* entirely normal to have a senior party heirachy of gay, coke-addled gangster-luvvin fat freaks? There’s no news value there BBC?

Labour: criminals, addicts, nutcases, stalinists…. “No story there” sayeth the BBC…

  27. 27

  28. 28

those are some seriously scabby feet

Fuck me, what *is it* with labour? Maybe they really are all lizard people.

  29. 29
    Ratsniffer says:

Probably the same reason that labour’s hard left kept quiet when their party became “New” labour. They knew that they would could not get elected without a makeover. In many ways it is harder for the boy Dave.

Don’t forget that labour has spent the last 13 years indoctrinating kids in schools that tory = nasty, scaring their client state of welfare dependents that tory = cuts to their lifestyle and employing a vast new army of voters in the form of a massive increase of public sector workers. A big hill to climb but not impossible, given the loathing the public feel for snotty.

Congratulations to the people of Hungary !

Socialism is a flawed & failed ideaology and should be consigned to the dustbin of history.

We have a far more serious problem here in the UK in that if Brown gets back in – either with or without the help of the Limp Dumbs – then Browns ‘Electoral Reforms’ will be implemented to deviously manipulate the voting system to ensure we are permanently stuck with a Leftist government – ‘Communism by Stealth’ is the aim of the New Liebour project.

Remember Brown was a member of the Communist Party at one time and I see to recall something about Leopards not changing their spots….

Worrying thing is that according to the opinion polls, 30% of the UK electorate are too thick to see it…

  45. 45
    Archer Karcher says:

“Tony Blair was certainly no marxist,”

But he was a “third way, progressive” corporatist fascist, which is a version of non marxist, authoritarian socialism. Cameron is another believer of course, so expect more of the same when he grasps the keys to number 10. They are puppets, running a puppet government, on behalf of an international ruling elite. That is why the message is the same from the LabLibCon, they are bought and paid for.

  46. 46

  59. 59
    Anon says:

Why is Cameron being so quiet about the demolition of Tory values?
That’s an easy question to answer.
The British parliament is no longer an independent entity, it has given away the sovereignty of the British people, which it had no legal right to do, and is now just a middle management organisation serving the European parliament.
So Dave’s just a middle manager who does as he is told.
The old saying ‘All political careers end in failure’ is no longer true, for when politicians have been rejected by their local electorate they can now be promoted to work for the EU in unelected and highly paid positions where they can dictate to the British and European poplulation how to live their lives.
Dave knows this and probably has an eye on a well paid position when he gets turfed out of office in this country.
Look at it as a retirement home for rejected politicians where they can be voted out and home but still have the benefit of living off the back of the taxpayer and not worry about democracy or being elected and all that hassle.
Lord Hailsham coined the term Elective Dictatorship but what we are witnessing with this corrupt political class goes even further, the EU has perfected an Unelective Dictatorship and in that sense it has directly replaced the communist USSR.
The USSR was a more honest entity in that it never pretended to be a democracy whereas the EU does, so you could say that the EU is worse than the USSR used to be.

    Greetings from Beregszasz says:

Brilliant to see this news has reached Guido’s blog. Today is a superb day to all who want to love Hungary. Hungary has finally turned its back on its Socialist past. There is much the British Conservatives could learn from Fidesz’s professional and unashamably conservative campaign.

Isn’t Fidesz one of those EPP parties that were too leftwing for Bumface?

    Greetings from Beregszasz says:

The election campaign of the MDF, the Tories’ allies in the European parliament, was headed up by Bokros Lajos, a former Communist and the Finance Minister in Horn Gyula’s 1994-98 socialist administration. The MDF did badly because Hungarians are turning their back on their Communist past and anyone associated with the socialists in any way.

The landslide of Fidesz and Orban Viktor is a source for joy for those who love Hungary and long it to have a democratic and free future. Fidesz refuse to accept former any Communists among their candidates. They are fiscal conservatives, favouring low taxes and reduced government spending. Orban showed great courage in leading the student protests against Communist one-party rule in 1989. He is also the leading advocate of the Hungarians ethnic minorities who still suffer the negative effects of the Trianon Treaty.

Dave Lightweight’s Hungarian allies lost all their seats. He truly has the Midas touch that boy.

With finances on a par with Iceland and a totally polarised electorate Hungary is the poorest and most unstable country in the EU. It was the only communist country not to have a truth commission and has never confronted the crimes of WW2 and the 56 revolution. Consequently since the fall of the Berlin wall the majority of elected governements have been made up from ex-commies who now have millions in the bank and drive big Mercedes. All the state assest have been sold and the profits in private hands, it has no wealth generating assets and is kept going by the black economy. The incoming Orban governement are well intentioned but have little skill or experience in leadership, especially economic competence. The last time they were in power they were just as bad if not worse than the socialists. The promotion of Jobik into mainstream politics is a catastrophe not just for Hungary but for Europe. They are a dangerous, manipulative group of ‘fashits’ whose antics involve burning down roma property and waiting outside with shotguns to shoot them when they try to escape. If you are gay, black, asian, jewish or roma watch out. Don’t think you are safe if you are white Western European or North American either. In their eyes you are a wicked foreigner who is responsible for the economic destruction of their nation. The Hungarian left wing have left their county a devastated mess which has presented an opportunity for the worst kind of right wing to take over. Interestingly the PM who was caught on radio claiming that his governement had lied, lied, lied! based his model on nu Labour and had special guidance provided by non other than Mssrs Bliar and Meddlesom.

George Galloway says of his former Respect candidate the UKIP MEP turned Tory, Amjad Bashir…

“Clearly Bashir does not have any real political principles or commitment, only naked opportunism and self-interest. He represents the revolving door principle in politics. The Tories are welcome to him because he will cause them embarrassment. Fortunately Respect was able to act before he did it to us.”
