          Mr Ned says:

They keep parachuting their chosen people in, like, Gloria De Piero, in Ashfield.

“I will live in the constituency and listen to the voters of Ashfield to ensure my priorities are their priorities,” Ms De Piero said.

That sums up labour entirely. She will make the people of Ashfield support HER priorities. IF she was interested in democracy (she wouldn’t be standing for labour) she would have said the opposite and stated that she would ensure that their priorities become her priorities.

            >>> “I will live in the constituency and listen to the voters of Ashfield to ensure my priorities are their priorities,” Ms De Piero said.

Sadly, this seems to be the approach of the Tories too, I had a rather similar reply to an e-mail I sent to my conservative prospective candidate. When will MPs and prospective MPs learn that they are OUR servants? (I know – when hell freezes over.)

          • Thats News says:

Yeees, Mr Ned well spotted. How on earth will she mould their priorities to her priorities?

Change the names for any politician or WAG could only happen in Browns Broken Bed Britain and the taxpayert payes for the bail hostel…

Oooh err Matron, noisy ‘rumpy pumpy’ places you at risk of an ASBO.
Posted on March 22, 2010 by Dawn Willis

        http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/odd/news/a209917/noisy-sex-asbo-woman-arrested-again.html

A woman with an ASBO banning her from having noisy sex has been arrested again.

Caroline Cartwright of Washington, Tyne and Wear, lost an appeal against the ban in November and admitted breaching the order again in December.

She was handed a suspended sentence in January, but The Daily Telegraph reports that she has now been arrested for breaking the ban again.

Cartwright is currently staying in a bail hostel to keep her apart from her husband Steve while officials decide what to do. She has previously spent eight months in the hostel and on her return home earlier this year she moved her bed into the dining room in an attempt to avoid disturbing the neighbours.

“This is just ridiculous,” she said. “It was just for ten minutes at around 10.15am on a Sunday morning. You couldn’t hear that much because the bed is downstairs in the dining room and not in the bedroom.

“The police came on Monday night to arrest me and lock me up. I spent the night in the cells and appeared at Houghton-Le-Spring Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. They said they believed I had breached the ASBO again because two neighbours said they heard us. It was only ten minutes, not the two-hour sessions like we used to have.”

Cartwright added that the ASBO is putting pressure on her marriage and said: “We aren’t doing it as much as we used to because it’s not exactly relaxing knowing that everyone is listening for you to make a noise.”

Cartwright will remain in the bail hostel until her committal hearing on May 13.

“Now I didn’t do that on my own, you did it. It was you that wrote out the placards, that marched on the streets, that campaigned to save our community hospitals, our maternity units, our GPs’ surgeries. It was you that made sure that for the first time in our history, we could look the British people in the face and say, yes, we are the party of the National Health Service, and you should be proud of that.”

A Happy ending at the BBC says:

They decided to cover the story a few minutes ago with one of those ridiculous question and answer setions between the presenter and the expert reporter. The conclusion was that Mr Byers had not done what he said he had done, Lords Mandelson and Adonis had not been influenced or had even been spoken to and that Nice Mr Brown would bring forward legislation to stop the next Conservative government doing all the bad things that the present Labour Government could have done but did Not do.

Hired guns take aim at target Tory seats

Dozens of Conservative parliamentary candidates are working in the lobbying industry that seeks to influence their party’s leadership.

An investigation by The Times has found that 28 prospective candidates who have a good chance of becoming Tory MPs are working as lobbyists or public relations consultants on behalf of businesses and other interests. More than a quarter got their jobs after being selected to fight seats.

Several acknowledged that they had set up meetings for clients with Shadow ministers, MPs and officials. More said that they had been asked to provide advice on the party’s direction. A few admitted to having pressed clients’ cases to Tory frontbenchers

          • Dispatches says:

Well if it was a pure numbers game then Cleggover wins since there is no sign of any of his MPs involved in it as yet.

But it’s not, it just feeds into the “they are all the same thieving bastards” message that the public already believes.

I’d remove the whip from them, set the CPS on the corrupt bastards, regardless of whatever Party the belong to, and ban ex MPs from joining Lobbying firms, not just for a paltry 2 years, but for the rest of their lives.

But that’s because I think ending the corruption is the important thing and know that they are all at it.

Actually that’s a good likeness of the creep. Since he has boasted of landing the taxpayer with a bill for “hundreds of millions” by conspiring with his mate, Lord Adonis, to bail out National Express, we can doubtless look forward to the full force of the NAO, a full inquiry, and then the public hanging, drawing and quartering of Byers and Adonis. As for Hoon, Hewitt, Moron et al, they should be put in a cage on public display so we can poke them with sharp sticks and watch them defecate. Finally, I hope this puts the nail in the coffin of the case for “professional poiliticians”, especially of the good-for-nothing-else type favoured by Labour. If they have no trade to fall back on they will sell their souls and our livelihoods for a slack handful of silla.

Some departments are paying staff to work full-time on trade union business.” “
Some full-time civil servants spend three days a work carrying out union activities and still receive a full salary from the Government.
Public spending on union activities was disclosed in official figures released to MPs.

        The IMF is coming says:

Amateurish in comaparison to today’s mire of lying, cheatimg and mal- administration. There is so much corruption and ‘in it for myself’ from top to bottom; from the Govt funding Unions to fund Labour, to £50k slush funds in note books to ex ministers pimping themselves

    Ordinary Bloke says:

    Wall Street Journal;

“Stephen Byers is in hot water. The former cabinet minister is at the centre of a Sunday Times undercover investigation into lobbying and MPs making themselves available for hire to corporate interests keen to influence government policy in their favour.

He now says that when he was caught on tape he was exaggerating, presumably to impress the fake lobbying firm trying to establish what he could do for them. He denies any wrongdoing.

An extraordinary spin operation seems to have convinced parts of the BBC that actually there’s not much to see here, and that the real story is that ministers are condemning their former colleagues (well, they would, wouldn’t they, as someone from another scandal once put it). And also that Gordon Brown is determined to take action against lobbyists, something he seems to have overlooked in either the last three or 13 years.

Labour = sleaze on an industrial scale says:

Labour ministers and ex-ministers are taking huge bribes to change government policy on behalf of their “private clients”. The whole government runs on lies, sleaze and corruption.

Brown’s government are turning this country into little more than a banana republic. That’s a bit more serious than some greedy little Tory MP trying to claim expenses for a duckhouse n’est ce pas?

          • Pot Kettle Watch says:

not like that nice Lord Ashcroft or these bribe proof Conservatives

Dozens of Conservative parliamentary candidates are working in the lobbying industry that seeks to influence their party’s leadership.

An investigation by The Times has found that 28 prospective candidates who have a good chance of becoming Tory MPs are working as lobbyists or public relations consultants on behalf of businesses and other interests. More than a quarter got their jobs after being selected to fight seats.

Several acknowledged that they had set up meetings for clients with Shadow ministers, MPs and officials. More said that they had been asked to provide advice on the party’s direction. A few admitted to having pressed clients’ cases to Tory frontbenchers

okay not ‘interesting’ as Darling is mogadon in human form with George being not much better, but it’s a preview of both election campaigns economic messages
it’s still ‘the economy stupid’ for the large majority of the UK’s voters
