Three Months Later, Megrahi Lives

It was only 90 days ago that we were told that Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi had only three months to live.  Well he lives and breathes today.  Officials in Libya last week confirmed that Megrahi had been discharged from Tripoli Medical Centre.

Colonel Gaddafi’s regime has publicly declared its hope that “a miracle from God” would preserve al Megrahi’s life.  Guido is ashamed to say that he is a bit more cynical…

Lockerbie Victims Families for Justice not posturing says:

      Doubt it.
The US faux ‘outrage’ was for purely for the cameras as they knew this was in motion and likely to happen long ago

From a letter the US Embassy sent to MacAskill and the Scottish Executive a couple of weeks before his release…

“the US position (is) that conditional release on compassionate grounds would be a far preferable alternative to prisoner transfer which we strongly oppose”

And the US had a steady stream of lobbyists for Exxon, Chevron and their congressional friends courting and praising Gadafi in the weeks and months before his release like John McCain. Just like Brown, Bliar and their minions did with BP

though it’s all fairly academic since Megrahi didn’t do it

Obama just won’t want to be seen with a loser like Brown if he can help it so Megrahi not dying as fast as some would like is unlikely to change that very much

The very last thing Britain and America wanted or needed was the true story of Lockerbie to be told. There will never be a public inquiry until those who covered up the truth and invented a story for their own ends are long dead, that’s the way of things in “the great democracies”.
Lockerbie was an atrocity and those who committed it should be made to pay, they won’t,they’ll never be known to save the reputations of those supposed to defend us.Megrahi didn’t bomb the plane,it had nothing to do with Libya,America knows that,Britain knows that…every intelligence service in the Western world and beyond knows that. They also know who did…and are not telling.

        Road_Hog says:

Anyone who has spent more than 5 minutes researching Pan AM 103 knows that Al Megrahi was framed. Gadhafi only sent him because Libya had lost something like $40 billion from sanctions and he believed in EU/UK justice and knew there was no evidence to convict Al Megrahi.

That was until they used three judges instead of a normal Scottish jury of 15 jurors. The judges came to the ‘right’ verdict. The evidence was crap, the witnesses were paid and changed their stories and the UN observer at the trial said that it was a joke and Al Megrahi shouldn’t have been convicted.

Personally I’m happy to see terrorists rot in jail, but not innocent people who have been fitted up, the West Midlands Regional Crime Squad of the 1980′s would have been proud of that.

After having been placed under house arrest in Britain and initiating a judicial battle, he was eventually released in March 2000 on medical grounds by the Home Secretary Jack Straw without facing trial

Pinochet returned to Chile on 3 March 2000. His first act when landing in Santiago’s airport was to triumphantly get up from his wheelchair to the acclaim of his supporters

Pinochet died on the morning of December 3 2006

Well Megrahi only has a mere 6 years 6 months to catch up on Pinochet’s ‘miracle’ recovery and Megrahi has the disadvantage fo not actually being guilty either

AshTray was only there in the first place because she was parachuted into Mandlescum’s old EU job to avoid the need for Gordo “my middle name is Courage” McBust to have to call a by-election if a sitting MP had been put into the job.

Her appointment to the EU Commission was, in the first place, invalid. As a life time member of the House of Lords, she remains a member of a national legislature and therefore is disqualified from being a Commissioner. She is therefore also equally disqualified from this “High Representative” rubbish.

However, when has the EU allowed its own rules to stand in the way of “the Project”?

“Baroness” AshTray is also most likely guilty of swearing a false oath by virtue of the terms of the oath she was required to take when becoming a commissioner. That is oath is directly contrary to her continuing obligations as a member of the UK legislature. Either she did not intend to uphold the oath she took or she did so and thereby was acting in direct breach of her obligations to the UK Crown arising from her membership of the House of Lords.

You can’t have it both ways, Ashtray (or maybe you can if you don’t feel bound by anything you ever say!). In any event, it is clear that Ashtray’s word is most certainly not her bond.

BRUSSELS — EUROPEAN UNION LEADERS PICKED THE LOW-KEY PRIME MINISTER OF BELGIUM AND A BRITISH TRADE REPRESENTATIVE WHO HAS NEVER HELD ELECTED OFFICE AS THE BLOC’S FIRST PRESIDENT AND FOREIGN MINISTER.

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125865479105255999.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLENexttoWhatsNewsSecond

There had been weeks of horse trading, but the heads of the 27 EU nations settled quickly and unanimously on Herman Van Rompuy and Catherine Ashton over dinner here Thursday after former British Prime Minister Tony Blair — who had been hoping for a political revival — lost the backing of his government.

Mr. Van Rompuy is an accidental holder of his current office, becoming prime minister after a tenuous coalition between the country’s French and Dutch speakers fell apart. King Albert II turned to Mr. Van Rompuy as a conciliator, and he became prime minister.

Lady Ashton, made Baroness of Upholland in 1999 by the Labour government, had a number of junior ministerial roles in education and the ministry of justice before becoming leader of the House of Lords in 2007. When Peter Mandelson resigned last year as EU trade commissioner to return to the U.K. government, she was appointed to succeed him in Brussels, her first international job.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair faced several problems pursuing the EU presidency job.

Mr. Blair’s candidacy faded after he failed to secure the backing of French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. It formally ended when, sensing that there wasn’t enough support for him, Prime Minister Gordon Brown ceased championing the man he served as treasury chief for a decade. Instead, Mr. Brown put Britain’s efforts into pushing Lady Ashton.

Mr. Van Rompuy, a Christian Democrat from Belgium’s Dutch-speaking north, belongs to the largest party in Belgium’s fragmented politics. A devout Catholic and a conservative, he has a graduate degree in economics and spent several years as Belgium’s budget minister.

As prime minister, he’s spent much of his time dealing with the financial crisis, which hobbled Belgian banks and has strained the country’s finances as Belgium moved to bail them out. His government has introduced levies on deposits, saying banks need to pay for part of the bailout.

U.K. Prime Minister Brown said he still believed Mr. Blair would have been a good president but that political parties “became more important than people expected.” He emphasized the importance of the foreign-minister post because that person is also vice president of the European Commission, the EU’s executive arm.

European officials say the foreign-minister role could turn out to be more important than that of president.

One European official said Lady Ashton’s department would be responsible for a diplomatic corps and staff of close to 3,000 people, which would be likely to grow, and also was in charge of the European Union’s military missions overseas. Her annual budget could come to 4 billion euros ($5.96 billion), this person said………………..

He was never compared to Ghandi yet. Only in the mind of BBC.

Guido chuckled at the following exchange he had with a Tory insider:

Tory: “What’s Labour’s position on the Syria crisis?”

GF: They say you should be talking to Russia.”

Tory: “Labour have been saying that since 1945.”
