+++ Rose Friedman Dies +++

She died yesterday according to the annoucement on the Milton and Rose D. Friedman Foundation website.

Our central theme in public advocacy has been the promotion of human freedom….it underlies our opposition to rent control and general wage and price controls, our support for educational choice, privatizing radio and television channels, an all-volunteer army, limitation of government spending, legalization of drugs, privatizing Social Security, free trade, and the deregulation of industry and private life to the fullest extent possible.

and I fail to understand how freedom for the individual will be achieved if people pay so much rent they have no money left for anything else. trust landlords?
        don’t be silly.
private social payments, don’t be silly. private companies will wish to profit from the unemployed even more than corrupt governments who have to atleast pretend they care.
the theories of free trade and less regulation have been totally debunked by the banking crisis.
this is all hokum and very 20th century stuff.
throwing in legalisation of drugs to get the potheads onside just does not cut it I am afraid.
in her attempt to promote freedom she was actually encouraging financial fascism.
I am sure she meant well but she was completely misguided.

Ever wondered why the police arrested four Israelis jumping up and down celebrating as the planes hit?

Ever wondered why they were released, and it was all hushed up? You can still find one or two newspaper articles about it.

Then there’s the problem of the building’s collapsing like controlled demolitions, and the recent insurance policies taken out on the buildings. WT7 collapsed even though no plane hit it, again, just like a demolition.

Most of the towers were reduced to rubble, no wreckage larger than a phone keypad, yet all 19 passports of the hijackers, who were not on the passenger manifests with the names on those passports, were found intact at the bottom.

Where did the engines from the Pentagon plane go? The investigators were able to identify people in the wreckage, yet apparently jet fuel caused a fire so intensive it melted 12 foot steel and titanium engines.

        However – Elvis is dead

At that age she might even have been turned around and discharged (alone and without notification) without her death actually being observed…certainly she would have been left on a trolley for 7 hours in casualty whilst all the younger and relatively ‘able bodied’ had been seen to and despatched wherever…and her having paid more tax and national insurance in 10 years than many of the other “patients” will pay in their lifetime for various reasons.

I speak from personal experience and with great sadness…

        Sir William Waad says:

NHS wards for the elderly have one thing in common with hospitals in the poorest African countries. It is left to relatives to endure that the patients are fed. Sometimes this means physically feeding the patient who is too slow/frail/forgetful/demoralised to feed herself. Other times it means bringing in palatable food. Meanwhile you are trying to get a nurse to attend to the patient in the next bed who has been calling for a bedpan for 15 minutes or so.

A good game to play in NHS wards is ‘spot the handwash’. Visitors – 1 point; doctors – 5 points; nurses – 20 points.

An NHS hospital doctor of my acquaintance won’t refer to ‘Care of the Elderly’. He insists that it should just be called ‘The Elderly’.

          The Labour Disease says:

Our local hospital was recently exposed for having a particularly inventive way of keeping to the 4 hour limit at A&E. They just make patients in ambulances wait outside until they can be seen within the time limit. This has the effect of keeping ambulances tied up and unavailable for hours, obstructing the entrance to A&E and blocking the hospital roads.

Toynbee “Conservative mockery of courses in cake decorating, flower arranging or golf course management defies the evidence that shows these lead to more jobs: communication skills are highly valued, so media studies graduates earn more than many taking “serious” subjects.”

Toynbee you must be fucking thick, the reason that the country is in such deep shit is the very fact that “communication skils” are currently valued more than “serious” subjects. A quick google about cake decorating, flower arranging and gold courses will quickly establish they are fucked becuase they all rely on income from people with serious jobs

The point is not that courses in flower arranging are useless, it is that they shouldn’t be degree courses and shouldn’t involve all the time and expense of going away to uni for three years. We should promote and honour vocational courses rather than devaluing the honours degree.

Toynbee like all seriously stupid socialists, imagine that creating non jobs, like green jobs for instance, is in someway entirely disconnected and viable, without real productive jobs elsewhere in the economy.

Without real wealth creation, not artificial wealth creation as in the green economy or the immense non job public sector, nothing is achievable.

Adding layers of cost or debt, eventually destroy the very thing that creates wealth, free trade.

That of course is the long term objective of the anti capitalist, corporatist /statist, greenazis and has been since day one.

Nonsense, I know perfectly well what is needed, it is a visionary leader of courage, who will lead his people to a more just and fair society.

This country, indeed the entire world, needs someone who shows courage in the face of adversity, principles in the face of corruption and honesty in this world of deciet.

In these difficult times, which started in America, the people of our nations and regions, do not need the distractions of such worthless ideals such as democracy or freedom, whatever they mean, they need a great leader who can be a father to his people and those from around the world who wish to make Britain their home.

Britain needs more of my ideas and I selflessly, indeed humbly, will stay the long course and buy this nation out of depression, by borrowing and spending ever greater sums of worthless money I can find, to implement the fascist utopia I know every citizen is crying out for.

Excuse my Engerlish. I was thinking of romping in the hay for the day with the fine looking woman but why is the rest of the restaurant empty. They must have been on the early evening menu the tight buggers.

This is a really interesting essay written in 1972

    http://www.bopsecrets.org/PS/hippies.htm

He rejects both the work and the leisure of his parents, but only to return to both in his own way. He works in “meaningful” jobs, for “hip companies” in which the employees constitute a “family,” and does subsistence farming and temporary work. Imagining himself a primitive craftsman, he develops this role, idealizing the Craft. The ideology he attaches to his pseudoprimitive (or pseudofeudal) occupation dissimulates its petit-bourgeois character. His interests, such as organic food, spawn thriving businesses. But the owners don’t think of themselves as ordinary businessmen because they “believe in their product.” It’s good vibes all the way to the bank.

    Dan (the man) Hannan says:

98 years old – wouldn’t have seen 80 in the UK. She’d have been overfed morphine and starved of fluids.

Mind you, she would have kept the nurses amused – one of their favourite games is to place a cup of tea ‘just out of reach’.

    Peter Rachman says:

How to build slums. Introduce rent controls.

Friedman wanted, amongst much else, to get rid of even legally enforceable professional standards. In other words, if your doctor’s treatment kills or disables you, you or your bereaved can sue him for damages, but he can’t be stopped from practising his incompetence on others. So Friedman was a loony, but like so many loonies he became a guru. Now Guido invites us to celebrate the life of a loony’s wife.

Oh well we’ll just PRINT MORE FUCKING MONEY and before you know it we’ll be sipping champagne on that V-shaped curve pointing to FIFTY PER CENT GROWTH, all thanks to NULAB and G. PILLOCK BROWN’s sensible economic measures

The thing about ‘free market’ theories is this:

If you are a wealthy person, then you might think they are wonderful.

However, if by misfortune, you should lose your wealth and end up homeless, then you might not be quite so fond of free market theories.

First lesson learnt on the first day of my long adventure in engineering , ‘Remember son ‘Bullshit baffles Brains” . As true today as it was then.

Second lesson learnt in the afternoon from a colleague who knew it all, ‘Just to think, this morning I couldn’t spell Engineer, now I are one’

‘Bullshitting Morons’ still getting away with it all over the world but especially in Merrie Olde Anglande, where they have their own Newspaper and Broadcasting Corporation

Right! But nobody wants to do anything about it. Cameron is gripped by a fear of conservatism.

Maybe if they really wanted to “decontaminate the Labour brand” with business people, they shouldn’t have totally buggered up the economy?

Just a thought.
