I noticed that at one point someone on BBC said that they could not explain Labour’s results in Wales because no Labour had been named in the expenses scandal. I thought you had found a few “doubts” about Peter Hain over the last year so wonder how much coverage they got in Wales? But the mainstream commentators seem to only include those named in the Daily Telegraph over the last few weeks.
I suspect also that Hain is hated as much in Wales as elsewhere.
Hain is well and truly hated here. After it was announced that Brown had mede him viceroy here – there was an earthquauke in Aberavon – even the land itself hates him. The return of Glenys Kinnock – words fail me. Labour should have come third in the Euros.

I’ve just seen Harperson on Sky. She said when they were canvassing and stood on constituent’s doorsteps, people were quite angry and said that Labour woudn’t get their vote at all. Quite different to what Yvette Ballscooper said last week.
Harperson also said that Labour would listen and learn. Haven’t we heard that somewhere before?….and what has actually happened? Nothing!

Glenys Kinnock said she’d been an MEP for 15 years. If Glenys, the ginger one, and their son were all on the European Gravy Train, just how much money have they made over such a long period of time? I dread to think!
The other point is that there are now not enough elected MP’s to fill the cabinet, which is why all these no-hopers are being given peerages in exchange for a cabinet job.
This is a terrible state of affairs for government. If they haven’t got the message now, perhaps their backbenchers will have the guts to get 50 signatures for their petition, and get him out that way.

That “Scot who can’t connect with English working class voter” can’t connect with Scottish voters as well.
The majority of the UKIP support must be disaffected Tories. If you the support for both together they equal the rest. People don’t like Europe. People don’t like being associated with a party that tells them are working class and can’t or even unable think for themselves.
On the council estates of the conurbation to my East the BNP is unsurprisingly popular as the local council (Labour dominated for decades) has destroyed their city.
Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your view, the majority of them don’t vote. Compulsory voting would have added to NuLabour’s woes considerably.

Peter Hain on Jeremy Vine show (radio 2) with today’s line from the bunker: Collapse in labour vote was because of the expenses scandal, only a couple of months ago the great leader Gordon was being praised for his leadership of the world, his stewardship of the economy blah blah blah not a word as to WHY people voted nazi – ie disaffected labour voters who feel they have been let down by NuLabour.
Rather than engage with these voters and try to get them back on side Hain prefers the “protest vote” line.
Typical NuLabour, close eyes and ears to reality and hope you can spin your way out of it.
Hopefully, the BNP result will kill PR dead, being a far more persuasive argument against PR for the poor deluded people who believe in it than any amount of logic or mathematics could possibly be.

Cameron is Scottish bloodline – no discussion. Blair is son of an English father adopted to Scottish parents – English bloodline. Guido is ???? bloodline.
The Scots mafia needs crushed. It has not served Scotland well (apart from the chummy Jimmy’s on the gravy train) and has wound England up justifiably. I am also in favour of not having Scots MPs voting on English/Welsh matters.
I think it says a lot that when Westminster is full of Scots (PM, Chancellor, Speaker) and Scots are voting SNP. There isn’t the feeling in Scotland that: “oh the Parliament is full of Scots so they look after our best interests.” We are just as annoyed about them as the English.
It’s a testament to England’s kindness that there isn’t more ire directed towards Brown’s nationality.
Also, Guido, what is your opinion on Scottish independence? It would certainly sort out Brown, and perhaps even lead to better relations. One final note, I absolutely don’t see North Sea Oil as some kind of Scottish-only asset. As part of a union, we all help each other out.
