Labour Calls for McBride to Go

Grassroots comments on LabourHome suggest that Labour activists would be happy to see the back of Damian McBride.

Charles Clarke calls for McBride to be sacked.

Derek Draper has admitted that Mcbride told him what to write in order to contrive a smear of Iain Dale and Guido on his “independent” website – something he lied about to Iain and live on the Daily Politics when we debated.  Fancy that, Derek Draper is a self-confessed liar.

Chief Justice of the Court of Public Opinion says:

Prisoners at the bar – you have been found guilty as charged – I am therefore recommending that you be placed on bail until 3 June 2010 when the court will re-convene to decide what action is appropriate to take against you.

Members of the Jury I note you have still to reach a verdict on – Mr Brown – and I am therefore adjourning the court to await reports from our pollsters before deciding what action to take in regard to the charge of “guilt by association” as to whether I am able to accept a plea of “Not proven” or not.

This court is adjourned until tomorrow forenoon when I will sit to take further evidence !!

Guido’s hypocrisy is breathtaking. Taking the high moral ground on smearing ill becomes one whose main purpose has been to smear Brown (and others) these past couple of years. Shame on you, Guido! Stay in the dungheap where you belong.

Interesting that the Torygraph is prostituting itself to this MacBride character.

    Is that because:
    a) The dtp journos are so worried about the blogosphere that they are willing to sup with any devil who tries to discredit it; OR
    b) The Barclay Bros are trying to curry favour with the dithering inhabitant of the bunker; OR
    c) All of the above

    Keep digging Guido.

    Budgie says:

The most interesting aspect of Guido’s revelations is that this is coming out of Downing St. Now we all know that Brown micro-manages, so him NOT knowing about this is highly unlikely.

It begins to look like someone in the high office of Prime Minister could be stooping to endorsing the tactic of using vile personal smears of his Tory opponents. When that is coupled with the intimidation of Damian Green for releasing embarrassing leaked information about the government’s immigration policy failures we have a potent brew. Even if McBride is sacked, McBust must not be allowed to get away with this.

The Telegraph is a straight down the line Tory PARTY supporter. That does not mean it is a Tory supporting paper. So when the cosy consensus between the main parties is threatened (by Guido’s revelations in this case) the Telegraph tries to steer the news back to conventional lines.

    Jack Night says:

Can’t say I am amazed. I posted this on 20/02/09 when I caught Draper doing a bit of pre debate black ops via Twatter.

I thought I would take a look at LabourList. On the right hand side is what I take to be the Twitter feed of their blogmaster Derek Draper. You can imagine my joy when I read the following….
“On my way to durham union to debate nick herbert and eleanor laing. Twitter any info you have on them!”
It is a casual, unguarded, throwaway comment but the more I read it, the worse I feel. I am trying to be charitable but it reeks of casual and long practiced unpleasantness.
The debate is apparently on “This House believes only a Conservative Government can fix Britain’s broken society. Speakers include: Simon Hughes and Nick Herbert.”
    Two things spring to mind
    1. What has soliciting “any info” about two of the other debaters from a rival party got to do with debating the proposition?
    2. It seems that some people in our political establishment are preparing to run ad hominem arguments rather than engage in debating how we can try and fix the many areas where our society is, for want of a better word, broken.

I was right but then it was a bit fish in a barrel.

He needs work, He needs the support of McBride. He had to shield him live on TV! So, yes, he lied. But that was before he realised that McBride was being fed to the lions by Brown!

He is now coming out with the truth, as he sees it, in the forlorn hope that Brown keeps him on the payroll. Some hope.

It is obvious that Brown is doing his utmost to keep control of the situation. I hope the emails places him in direct fire!

Slow down – the point is what are the smears why on earth arn’t we being told – typical shabby journalistic trick to turn a scuffle between guttersnipes into something important. The Downing St. spinner and Mandelsen’s catamite have missed the obvious trick which is to say they were passed the stories by a concerned member of the public and wanted to check them out before offering them up to the public prints. As long as we haven’t been shown the email it’s a total journo’s circle jerk,

  30. 52
    Jacqui five bellies says:

The bigger story here is how the MSM is sticking together against Guido and Dale. Lets be honest most journalists are scum, they have their noses up the stinking arses of politicians as they want the freebie lunches, free trips and don’t want to be cut out of the Westminster village.

They continually attack bloggers like Dale and Guido because the bloggers are the only ones to hold the scum political elite to account.
