Politicians with Moral Purpose?

Radio 4 has a new show “Number 10″ starting this Friday 7 (9.00pm) which is being billed as a sort of British West-Wing on the wireless. The publicity guff claims
Jonathan Myerson’s drama series about the daily struggles inside Downing Street, and the cut-and-thrust of opinion polls and spin, features characters who are united by their genuine drive to do something positive and their hope for a better future.

The show’s characters will be selfless politicians who are not power-crazed egoists. It is a work of fiction…

Alastair Campbell Malcolm Tucker writes

“… remember your key attributes: not JFK skipping through the flowers spraying Clinton juice all over everyone. No – the glowering maniac in the boarded-up house who, if we’re lucky, people might just about believe is the only one who can remember where the bank statements are kept. That’s the core strategy.”
