Fresh from being fired by FOX at the end of last month, Tucker Carlson has now announced that his show will be resuscitated, in some shape or form, on Twitter. The announcement video, now with over 73 million views, was posted as his website proclaimed ‘TUCKER IS BACK’. Complete with a photo of Tucker holding a gun.
Tucker added:
“At the most basic level the news you consume is a lie. A lie of the stealthiest and most insidious kind. Facts have been withheld on purpose, along with proportion and perspective. You are being manipulated… We’re just grateful to be here. Free speech is the main right you have. Without it, you have no others.”
Musk responded to Carlson’s declaration of love with the terms and conditions, pointing out fire exits and loos:
“On this platform, unlike the one-way street of broadcast, people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever is said. And, of course, anything misleading will get @CommunityNotes. I also want to be clear that we have not signed a deal of any kind whatsoever. Tucker is subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators. Rewards means subscriptions and advertising revenue share (coming soon), which is a function of how many people subscribe and the advertising….”
It’s not surprising Musk wants to keep his distance from conspiracy-loving Carlson…
Donald Trump yesterday became the first US President to face criminal charges, as he appeared in a New York court to plead not guilty to 34 felony charges related to falsifying documents. The charges arise from alleged hush-money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels – intended to prevent her speaking out about an affair years before the 2016 election. Manhattan prosecutor Alvin Bragg identified eleven cheques issued for a “phoney purpose”. Nine of them were signed by Trump…
After returning to his Florida resort, Donald gave a speech in which he railed against the various investigations that have been launched into his presidency – including investigations into “Russia, Russia, Russia”, “impeachment hoax number one” and “the illegal and unconstitutional raid on Mar-A-Lago”. He took aim at the “radical left, George Soros-backed” Alvin Bragg, the prosecutor in yesterday’s case; the “racist Democrat district attorney in Atlanta” – referring to Fani Williams, currently investigating election interference claims in Georgia; and the special counsel behind the classified documents case:
“This lunatic special prosecutor named Jack Smith – I wonder what it was prior to a change – who others of his ilk say he is even worse than they are, is only looking at Trump. Yet Joe Biden took many more documents. He even removed many boxes to Chinatown – can you believe that? He just got $10 million from China, where did that come from? I guess they were banking at Hunter’s expertise.”

For any Brits who keenly remember the Partygate saga, the story coming out of America will bring out a wave of nauseating déjà vu: a centre-left leader making great political capital out of a lapse of standards by his blonde populist opponent, only to get hoisted on his own petard. President Biden now faces his own Beer Korma headache, as it emerges from Washington that he himself possessed two batches of classified government records in private offices. While Trump is facing an investigation for allegedly mishandling similarly classified files…
While the second document discovery proves embarrassing for the White House, it’s proving equally awkward for Aunty Beeb, who are clearly struggling to keep up with the rapidly developing nature of the story.
On January 10th – before the second batch of files were uncovered – the BBC wrote an explainer attempting to downplay the story, “Why the Biden-Trump classified documents cases are different”.
A day later, the 11th, that had been changed to “How the Biden-Trump classified documents cases are different”. No other adjustments were made to that copy.
Yesterday however, that all changed. The article was amended for a third time, this time with the headline “How the Biden and Trump classified documents cases compare”. The article also revised its analysis that the discovery of documents “had the potential to be a political headache”.
Following the discovery, this was updated to:
“The revelation that aides to Joe Biden discovered classified documents as they were moving boxes out of the president’s Washington-based think tank offices already had the potential to be a political headache.
Now a second batch has been found in a garage at his Delaware home, the embarrassment will deepen further.”
All news outlets struggle to nail down details during breaking news, though the BBC might’ve spared itself some embarrassment had they been less keen to spin for the Democrats in the first place. Readers are also offered no indication that the article has ever been updated. Tut tut…
Zelenskyy received a hero’s welcome in Washington overnight, with a speech to Congress that garnered multiple standing ovations. On the 300th day of the war in Ukraine, Zelenskyy told US politicians, “Your money is not charity. It is an investment in global security and democracy that we handle in the most responsible way,” adding “There can’t be any ‘just peace’ in the war that was imposed on us.”
He unveiled a Ukrainian flag, given to him by soldiers who asked for him to take it to the US on his visit.
At least his visit this time went a little better than when he went to meet Trump…
