In an ITV London health debate last night former Shadow Health Minister Diane Abbott tutted when the Mid-Staffs scandal was mentioned:
When called out by the presenter, she justified her response by claiming that the Tories “always harp on about Mid-Staffs”. Apparently mentioning 1,200 deaths through neglect on Labour’s watch is not allowed, despite their claims to be the party of the NHS…
What a lot of endorsements that nice Chuka Umunna has on his campaign literature from the good people of Streatham:
There are glowing references from Edris Thompson, a “retired healthcare worker“, who tells her fellow constituents “he cares a lot about people in our area”.
“New father” Richard McLean says “Chuka has been a hardworking local MP”.
He also has the votes of Pauline Milligan, “the director of the Streatham Food Festival”, “teacher” Helen Hutchinson and transport campaigner Dave Malley.
What none of the leaflets mention is that all of these people are members of Chuka’s local CLP.

Since the beginning of the year 291 LibDem, Labour or Tory councillors/candidates have hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons, yet received nowhere near the same level of outrage dished out over Ukippers misdemeanours.

The only mention of the Tories links back to an ancient story about a Cameron speech given on 14 April.

Poor Emma Reynolds has been well and truly stitched up by the Labour leadership. Just four weeks ago the Shadow Housing Minister promised that Labour ‘don’t want to introduce rent controls, so please don’t believe everything you read in the newspapers’.
