Former SNP MP Jailed for 18 Months for Embezzlement

Natalie McGarry, former SNP MP elected in 2015, but booted out of the party shortly later after she was charged with a number of fraud offences. She was found to have embezzled more than £25,600 from pro-independence organisations in Scotland, and has been jailed for 18 months. Shame there was an election in 2017, otherwise we could have been looking forward to another fun by-election…

Tice Suing SNP MEP For Libel

Brexit Party Chairman Richard Tice has issued a legal letter to SNP MEP Alyn Smith, for calling the party “a money laundering front” on live television. They demand that by midday tomorrow Smith must issue the following (surprisingly reserved) statement otherwise High Court proceedings will be brought “for appropriate relief”:

“On 27 May 2019 I was interviewed by Sky News. In that interview I stated that the Brexit Party and by implication its Chairman, Richard Tice, were involved in money laundering. Having reflected upon this, I am happy to state that in fact I do not have any evidence to support this allegation. I spoke in the heat of the moment and did not give proper consideration to the implications of what I was saying. Neither the Brexit Party nor Mr Tice are involved in money laundering. I am happy to set the record straight “

Big oops from the SNP. Other mouthy FBPErs would do well to take note…

Sturgeon Will Still Push For IndyRef If Brexit is Stopped

A Second Referendum doesn’t neuter the SNP, it just legitimises the idea of having second referendums…

Scottish Remain Voter: I Accept Democracy, SNP Does Not Speak For Me

Last night’s Question Time served as a good reminder that plenty of Remain voters do accept the results of referendums, despite the SNP pretending they don’t. Remainy unionists should think carefully about the precedent of forcing down second referendums…

Ian Blackford’s Sex Confusion

The SNP Westminster leader mixed up his sexes during Prime Minister’s Questions this afternoon, congratulating the Duke of Wessex, who doesn’t exist, instead of the Duke of Sussex (whose wife has just had a baby). Funniest he’s been in months…

Sturgeon Introduces Minimum Alcohol Price, Scots Defiantly Drink More

This time last year, Scotland introduced minimum unit pricing for alcohol. The logic behind the policy rested on a study by Sheffield University that claimed a minimum price of 50p per unit, as was legislated for in Scotland, would “reduce alcohol consumption in Scotland by 3.5% or 26.3 units per drinker per year.” Expenditure on alcohol was only predicted to rise by the negligible amount of 0.7%. How did the expert predictions fare..?

Actually expenditure on alcohol has risen by more than fifteen times their prediction – 10.7%. As for the number of units consumed, the thing they were trying to lower… units consumed increased by 1%. Now in whatever the opposite of evidence based policy is, the Welsh Government is looking to implement the same failed policy. Governments should leave people to drink their mojitos in peace…
