FOI Reveals Sexual Harassment and Corruption in Brussels

juncker

A well-timed Freedom of Information request into the European Commission’s internal disciplinary committee has revealed the extent of misconduct cases investigated in the last year. No names are disclosed naturally, but this is the sort of thing that goes on in Brussels:

  • Staff rebuked for sexual harassment
  • The abuse of diplomatic status to smuggle in duty free for a friend
  • Trying to dodge tax by supply of a fake document
  • ‘Passive’ corruption
  •  Collusion in a rent scam
  • A staff member operating as an industry insider and changing reports
  • The use of a de facto ‘company car’ from an outside interest
  • Employment of family members as a quid pro quo
  • Moonlighting
  • A person AWOL for most of the year (while running their own business)
  • Sleeping off campus

Despite all this, only 16 members of staff received cautions. Surprise, surprise…

Will Young Climbs Aboard Boris’s Vote Leave Bus

will young

Evergreen Pop Idol crooner Will Young is famous for hits like 2003’s “Leave right now”. It looks like he will be getting on Vote Leave’s bus on the Long and Winding Road when he takes over the big red battle bus later this week. Conspiratorial pro-Remain types needn’t have Suspicious Minds, though – Young isn’t going to Light Leave’s Fire – he’s just using the bus for his journey to Glastonbury on June 25. The singer won’t be making significant Changes, other than taking off all the Vote Leave stickers.

Will has so far stayed out of the referendum. There’s still time to back Leave – Don’t Let me Down Will…

Mercer No Fisherman’s Friend

mercer boats

As MP for Plymouth, the city home to the UK’s second largest fresh fish market, Johnny Mercer should be a fisherman’s friend. They’re hurting following cuts to EU fishing quotas of 26% for cod, 14% for haddock, and 12% for whiting – all local catches in South Devon. So it’s no wonder a number of fishermen and women from Plymouth joined Farage’s flotilla down the Thames yesterday. What did their local Remain MP have to say to them?

Poor Johnny is having a tough time endearing himself to his constituents at the moment…
