Maitlis’ Profound Insight: Swift Endorsement has “Fundamentally Changed the Race”

The ever-insightful News Agents have released a new podcast analysing what Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris means for the US election. For Emily Maitlis, this has completely changed the game in way nothing else could, profoundly stating it “has just fundamentally changed the race” for any voter under 70-years-old. The Swiftie said:

“I mean be in no doubt this will rock the entire electoral axis in the States. This has just fundamentally changed the race, by I’m going to say pretty much anyone under-40, but maybe it’s anyone under-70, I don’t know, but I think it will. Look, this is undoubtedly huge news.”

It’s reminiscent of when Owen Jones (40) stated “Russell Brand has endorsed Labour – and the Tories should be worried”. Sadly for Ed Miliband, the celebrity backing wasn’t quite enough to clinch electoral victory in 2015. Clearly Emily hasn’t learned how overstating the power of a celebrity endorsement can leave a hack red-faced…

Jon Sopel Whines That Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg Is “Doing Politics”

The News Agents hosts Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel are providing their usual incisive analysis of the media landscape by discovering that Tory MP presenters on GB News talk about politics. Sopel whined that he wouldn’t have a problem with them doing travel programmes:

Jacob Rees-Mogg takes the bus. That would be fine. I’d have no problem with it. But it’s Jacob Rees-Mogg doing politics.Jacob Rees-Mogg taking the bus would be more entertaining than Sopel and Maitlis’ snoozefest…

Sopel’s complaint also misses the point in the Ofcom investigations, which is whether programmes slip out of politics and into news. Emily Maitlis says that Ofcom is scared of GB News – tell that to the 21 spats they’ve had in the last two years. Sopel then goes on to point out that GB News is “swashbuckling” while “the rest of broadcasting seems to be playing by the rules“. That doesn’t apply to when his own co-presenters were still employed by them

Maitlis Told To F*** Off on News Agents US Trip

Marjorie Taylor Greene is no stranger to telling British reporters what she thinks of them, and when interviewed by the News Agents’ Emily Maitlis on Trump’s victorious “Super Tuesday”, the Trump backer didn’t hold back. Maitlis boldly asked the Republican: “Can you tell me why so many people that support Trump love conspiracy theories, like yourself?” Needless to say, Greene didn’t appreciate it…

After being prodded by Maitlis about “Jewish space lasers“, Greene has enough of the fake news:

“Let me tell you, you’re a conspiracy theorist…we like the truth. Like supporting our constitution, our freedom and America first…why don’t you just f**k off.”

‘She’s standing up, standing up for what she believes in, folks’…

Mhairi Black Stepping Down as MP at Next Election

The SNP’s deputy leader in Westminster, Mhairi Black, has announced she is stepping down at the next election. Speaking to Emily Maitlis on the News Agents, Black claimed the “toxic environment” of Westminster has taken its toll on her “body and mind“:

“I’m tired, is a big part of it. And the thing that makes me tired is Westminster. I think it is one of the most unhealthy workplaces that you can ever be in, it’s a toxic environment… it’s definitely a poisonous place…”

She became the deputy leader of the SNP’s Westminster group in December, and has now thrown in the towel because Parliament “gives [her] the ick“. According to UK Polling Report, she was set to hold onto her seat:

Although given the chaos within the SNP this year, it was no guarantee…
