National Trust Claim Climate Change is Their “Biggest Threat”

The National Trust have labelled climate change “the single biggest threat” to the land and buildings that they manage. The line is being wheeled out as a hook for the Trust’s 10 year strategy to nurse their portfolio back to health. And the BBC are loving it...

Oddly, despite making such a grandiose claim, there’s almost no mention in the report of the ways in which climate change is actually impacting on the Trust. Even the director-general of the Trust, quango queen Dame Helen Ghosh seemed stumped when asked on the Today Programme about the claim, mumbling something to John Humphrys about the need to “focus on the conservation challenge of the day.”

Surely the National Trust wouldn’t stoop to scaremongering in order to score cheap headlines
