Fan of Iran’s Revolution Topped Labour’s NEC Poll

Last night’s NEC election results focused on the shocking election of Peter Willsman, a man dropped from the Momentum slate, disowned by media savvy Corbynistas like Owen Jones, Ash Sarkar, and Matt Zarb-Cousin after his rant about the anti-Semitism crisis being faked by Jewish Trump supporters. Little attention has been given to the person who topped the poll, Yasmine Dar.

On this video from last year Dar is celebrating the Iranian Islamic Revolution, a regular annual event for her which Guido reported on last year. The Iranian regime is built on a foundation of the corpses of enemies and has no greater enemy than Israel, a nation that they have many times promised to “wipe from the face of the earth”. Iran competes with North Korea among the dregs of states which systematically violate human rights. Amnesty International reports document the harsh penalties for “un-Islamic behaviour”, most famously the death penalty for same-sex relationships. This is the regime she celebrates, her “happy time” with holocaust deniers, anti-semites and conspiracy theorists.

Dar won seat on the NEC, the governing body of the Labour Party, after topping the poll with 88,176 votes, an astounding margin of victory for someone without a significant national profile. The Manchester Labour councillor attached herself to Andy Burnham’s campaign for leader when he was a favourite to win the leadership, she swiftly switched to Corbyn once she saw the way the wind was blowing. Two weeks ago Facebook announced it had taken down coordinated campaigns originating in Iran. Some 254 Facebook pages and 116 Instagram accounts with more than a million followers across the two services. Facebook said the network of propaganda sites was linked to Press TV, the station which for years employed Jeremy Corbyn as a front man. According to analysis “This influence operation linked to Iran aims to promote political narratives in line with Iranian interests, including anti-Saudi, anti-Israeli, and pro-Palestinian themes.” No evidence has been uncovered to suggest that Dar was a beneficiary of Iran’s extensive social media efforts.

Is her margin of victory shocking? Yes. Is it so surprising in the context of a party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, who was for years in the pay of the Iranian state…

Pete Willsman Elected to Labour NEC

The Labour NEC election results are in and all nine Corbynista candidates have been elected, including Pete Willsman who even Momentum, Owen Jones, Ash Sarkar, and Matt Zarb-Cousin withdrew support for over his rant about the anti-Semitism crisis being faked by Jewish Trump supporters. Willsman has been accused of behaving inappropriately towards young female activists.

The nine candidates elected include Momentum Chair Jon Lansman, who reportedly voted for Pete Willsman despite hearing his rant.

The Labour membership is now more in the pocket of the likes of Chris Williamson than Owen Jones…

Oh, and Eddie Izzard loses, again.

Corbynistas Tell Each Other To Throw Their TVs In the Bin in Protest at BBC

A new #BBCswitchoff hashtag is sweping across the more loopy sections of Twitter, as Corbynistas attempt to organise a mass boycott of the Beeb tonight. Supporters are saying the BBC is ‘infested’ with ‘Zionists’, is a tool of ‘Conservative propaganda’, and that the licence fee should go to Channel 4 instead. Some are even calling on each other to throw their TVs in the bin…

And of course Corbynistas’ favourite impartial TV channel is chiming in on the act:

How will the Beeb cope?

Momentum Twitter Poll Backfires

Momentum, like most of SW1, seems to have severely underestimated Boris and have engaged in a stunt that has only served to highlight his popularity. Taking notes from Brandon Lewis?

After well over 17,000 votes, 80% of respondents say the whip shouldn’t be withdrawn from Boris. You can still vote in the twitter poll here…

Momentum Face Grassroots Revolt After Dumping Race Row Willsman

Momentum is facing a grassroots revolt with members vowing to quit the pro-Corbyn group after it abandoned its support for race row Pete Willsman. Last night Momentum removed Willsman from its slate for the NEC elections, instructing its followers not to vote for him:

This has gone down very badly with their batsh*t supporters, many of whom are choosing to back the man at the centre of Labour’s anti-Semitism scandal and tear up their Momentum membership cards in protest. The crackpot Momentum splitters have taken to putting #JC9 in their Twitter names, reflecting their support for the original left-wing slate including Willsman.

A reminder that Willsman ranted about Jews on tape and has now lost the support of the Momentum leadership, Owen Jones, Matt Zarb-Cousin and Ash Sarkar, but the Momentum grassroots and the Leader’s Office are still backing him. This is who Jezza has chosen to side with…

Momentum Purge More Councillors Amid Bullying Claims

Momentum have succeeded in deselecting three sitting councillors in Brighton and Hove, replacing them with Momentum candidates in time for next year’s local elections. Momentum has 2,000 local supporters in the area…

Amongst those deselected was Anne Meadows, one of Brighton’s longest serving and most senior councillors, who responded to her deselection saying“Momentum are operating within the Labour Party but have no real loyalty to the party and as you know I have suffered intimidation and abuse so they can deselect me and control the ward and the party.” Kinder, gentler…
