Jared on ‘Taking Your Mum’s Virginity’ and ‘Fellatio From Angelina Jolie’

Day three: Jared O’Mara is quoted as making another series of very lewd comments about women on online music message boards. Warning: the comments are not the sort of thing we would usually publish on a family blog. Talking about a band in his local Sheffield, his review described:

“a rhythm section that’s tighter than your mother was when I took her virginity all those years ago”

… and concluded that listening to the band in question was

“even better than receiving fellatio from the beautifully pert lips and wet mouth of Angelina Jolie”

Jared’s mindset is one that normalises the objectification of women in an extremely degrading away. The review was posted in O’Mara’s name in 2009 – 5 years after he first stood as a Labour candidate – on a Drowned in Sound message board, referencing his role at Know Your Onion Promotions. This was eight years ago when Jared was 28 years old. That ‘journey’ of his had quite a few stops along the way…

“Jared Called Me an Ugly Bitch 7 Months Ago”

Jared O’Mara says he is a reformed character and that he made his sexist and homophobic comments years ago. Yet he stands accused of calling a constituent an “ugly bitch” just eight months ago, weeks before he was elected. Sophie Evans, a pub worker from Sheffield, claims O’Mara made the comment to her at a music venue where he was DJ-ing in March this year. Sophie recounted her version of events to Guido over the phone:

“I met him on the dating app Happn in August last year. I was chatting to him, he seemed alright and I met up with him once but it was obvious nothing was going to be going on with him. He’s the DJ for West Street Live so I saw him from time to time. In March this year I was out with my friend. There was a bit of an incident. My friend was standing in front of the DJ booth and Jared kicked her coat out of the way… I joked that the DJ had a problem with me because I turned him down… He just flipped, we were having an alright conversation then he just stepped back, looked at me and went “I wouldn’t touch you with a manky woman’s c*ck you ugly b*tch.”

This wasn’t 15 years ago, it was this year. The reason Guido has been digging into O’Mara’s views is because of comments he made just a few months ago. Is he really reformed?

O’Mara Apologises: “No Offence Intended”

Jared O’Mara has released a statement following Guido’s revelations this morning:

“These comments were posted years ago, with no offence intended. I apologise for any caused.”

No offence intended? Eh? He said he wanted an orgy with Girls Aloud, that overweight women don’t deserve respect and called for a musician to be “sodomised” to death. Classic apology only for “offence caused”… is it enough to keep his place on the Women’s and Equalities committee?

UPDATE: Jared has released a second, more unequivocal statement:

“I am deeply ashamed of the comments I made online, which have emerged today. I was wrong to make them; I understand why they are offensive and sincerely apologise for my use of such unacceptable language. I made the comments as a young man, at a particularly difficult time in my life, but that is no excuse. Misogyny is a deep problem in our society. Since making those comments 15 years ago, I have learned about inequalities of power and how violent language perpetuates them. I continue to strive to be a better man and work where I can to confront misogyny, which is why I’m so proud to sit on the Women and Equalities Select Committee. I will continue to engage with, and crucially learn from, feminist and other equalities groups so as an MP I can do whatever I can to tackle misogyny.”

LibDems Call On O’Mara to Resign From Women’s Committee

The Tories and LibDems are sticking the boot into Jared O’Mara following Guido’s stories this morning. Women2Win’s Resham Kotecha asks: “How do we end up with people like this in our Parliament and responsible for equalities?”. Meanwhile LibDem peer Lord Scriven, a Sheffield local, says:

“It seems like a nasty pattern of sexist language and misogyny is developing from the Labour MP for Sheffield Hallam. He clearly isn’t fit to sit on the Women and Equalities Committee. He must stand down from that committee immediately and if he doesn’t, Jeremy Corbyn must take action to remove him. Having spoken to voters in Sheffield Hallam they are beginning to question what kind of MP he is.”

Some irony that Jared sits on the Women’s and Equalities committee…

O’Mara: Fat Women Don’t Deserve Respect

This morning Guido revealed Labour MP Jared O’Mara asked Girls Aloud for an “orgy“. This is the guy who was accused of calling a woman “an ugly bitch” and once performed a song with the chorus “I wish I were a misogynist, I’d smash her in the face”. It gets worse…

Guido can reveal that O’Mara once wrote a rant about “fat” women on an internet message board. O’Mara criticised the overweight, calling them “fatties“, claiming they are “deified” in the West and saying they do not “deserve our respect“. He added that Pop Idol’s Michelle McManus “only won because she was fat“:

“She only won because she was fat. Ipso facto…. I also dislike the prevailing western tendency to deify fatties… There is nothing noble or admirable about glutting on loads of fatty foods and making yourself obese and ill. The only fat people out there who deserve our respect are those who are fat not because of a poor diet/lifestyle, but because of a genuine medical condition. As far as I know, Michelle is not amongst that number.”

Is another Labour MP going to have to apologise for Everyday Sexism?

Labour MP Asked Girls Aloud For “Orgy”

Three days after Clive Lewis was forced to apologise for sexist comments, Guido can reveal another Labour MP once asked Girls Aloud for an “orgy“. Readers will remember Jared O’Mara, the new MP for Sheffield Hallam who was accused of calling a woman “an ugly bitch” and once performed a song with the chorus “I wish I were a misogynist, I’d smash her in the face”. O’Mara’s women problem does not end there. In his mid-twenties he was a regular poster on the message boards of music website Drowned in Sound. Here’s his profile:

Using this profile, O’Mara once wrote a mock “advice column” for the band Girls Aloud. His “advice” was that Nicola, Cheryl, Nadine and Kimberley should “come have an orgy with me”. When another user wrote that they would not invite “the whiny ginger one” to take part, O’Mara replied: “At least send the ginge round mine”.

This is now the third sexism row involving O’Mara. Guido can tell you it won’t be the last. Another Corbynista brocialist…
