Boris and Rishi Attack European Broadcasting Union for Barring Zelenskyy from Eurovision

Sunak has waded into the debacle of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) turning a cold shoulder to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with Boris in tow. While the President of war-torn Ukraine had hoped to feature in a surprise virtual address at the ceremony, the EBU stressed that the “non-political nature of the event” would render any appearance “against the rules.” Europe and their superfluous self-contradictory laws…

The PM’s spokesperson said Sunak believed it would be “fitting for President Zelenskyy to address the event” and emphasised that he was “disappointed by the decision from the European Broadcasting Union.” Boris joined in the chorus to proclaim that it “would have been right to hear” from Zelenskyy, and remind the EBU that “there is only one reason the contest is not in Ukraine and that is because of Putin’s illegal war.”

The EBU, which represents over 100 broadcasters including the BBC, noted Zelenskyy’s “laudable intentions” as they closed the door in his face “regrettably”. Eurovision and the EBU seem to have forgotten about their non-political stance when they rightly barred Russia indefinitely from the competition last year.

Boris’s FCDO Eurovision Gratitude

On Tuesday the PM paid a visit to Lancaster House for the FCDO Heads of Mission conference, alongside Ben Wallace and Liz Truss. Plenty of diplomats took to Twitter to show off the very serious topics that had been under discussion: “changing global context”, “how to better protect and promote UK interests”, “international development strategy” all among them. Word reaches Guido it wasn’t a wholly serious affair, however…

Taking to the stage for a sit-down interview in front of the best and brightest of Britain’s diplomatic core, Boris apparently had the crowd in stitches thanking them for their hard and vital diplomatic work… in securing Britain’s weekend Eurovision result, adding he could barely believe it when France gave us “douze points!”. Guido also hears that while DCMS’s Eurovision priority is helping Ukraine in any way they can to host next year’s contest, an offer to host it in the UK if they can’t has been made…

Eurovision Song Contest Cancelled

Potentially a relief for the UK’s entry James Newman – with his unfortunately titled song, “My Last Breath”…

Eurovision Stage Invader Is Corbynista

The stage invader who interrupted the UK’s act at the Eurovision Song Contest tonight is a Corbyn-backing, Labour-supporting veteran protester who endorsed Jezza at the general election, Guido can reveal. Dr ACactivism, also known as A.C., is named in reports as the man who tonight rushed the stage and grabbed Brit singer SuRie’s mic. He previously disrupted the National Television Awards and talent show The Voice. Cops swooped and the European Broadcasting Union says he is in custody…

While many initially thought the protest was about Brexit, it seems ACactivism shouted: “Nazis of the UK media… we demand freedom, war is not peace”. His Twitter feed reveals he backed Corbyn at last year’s snap election. He posted a video “to endorse Jeremy Corbyn” from the scene of the London Bridge terror attack. In a video which echoed both his comments on stage tonight and Labour’s general election slogan, he said:

“Ladies and Gents I’m here in London Bridge to endorse Jeremy Corbyn. Why do I endorse… Jeremy Corbyn? Well no one trusts politicians… Jeremy Corbyn is the only politician that is thinking different, that is thinking for the many, for a different way of doing and thinking, Jeremy Corbyn is the only person that is thinking war is not peace, he wants to bring a different vision for Europe and for Britain, that’s why I’m here to endorse Jeremy Corbyn.”

Dr ACactivism also posted messages praising Corbyn for “snubbing the Queen”, saying “hopefully he never kneels at the feet of tiny thing and shiny hat”. He also backed Corbyn’s praise of Cuban dictator Castro’s ‘heroism’…

Other posts supportive of Corbyn include attacks on the press and Jeremy Paxman:

On his website he describes himself as “a philosopher, activist, DJ/MC, Radio and online presenter and the author of seven eBooks.” Trust a Corbynista to try to ruin the British act…
