Press Release That Unmasks Remainers’ Post-Truth Tactics

mcgrory

In his car crash interview with Andrew Neil yesterday, Continuity Remain campaigner James McGrory said:

“It’s clear there is no mandate to leave the single market. The idea that the Leave campaign spoke with unanimity and with clarity and purpose… and said we will definitely leave the single market is just not true.”

Oh James…

Guido has found a press release sent by Stronger In on 11th May this year. In it, one James McGrory explicitly says that Boris and Vote Leave “plan to pull Britain out of the Single Market”.

There it is in black and white: a Stronger In press release written by McGrory himself admitting Vote Leave openly said Brexit meant leaving the single market. All the clarity and purpose you could ever want. Let this be the last time Continuity Remainers get away with telling this demonstrable untruth.

Andrew Neil Debunks Viral Open Britain Video

This week the zombie Remain campaign group Open Britain released a video purporting to show prominent Leave campaigners backing staying in the single market. On the Sunday Politics Andrew Neil revealed that the quotes were edited to take them completely out of context. The Owen Paterson, Matthew Elliott and Nigel Farage quotes were deliberately clipped to distort entirely what they were saying. Brillo told Open Britain’s James McGrory: “You misrepresented them… How did you think you would get away with this?… Many people will conclude that you are the biggest liars”. The video was shared thousands and thousands of times by Remainers, post-fact politics at its most blatant…

UPDATE: Matthew Elliott and Michael Gove have called on Open Britain to withdraw their video and apologise.

Retail Sales Surge #DespiteBrexit

despite

Retail sales surged in October, up 7.4% on last year and 2% on the previous month. How are the Remain media reporting the news? Here’s the Indy:

“Retail sales surged by 1.9 per cent in October, far outstripping City analysts’ expectations and showing continued strength of household consumption despite the Brexit vote.”

The Guardian:

“Official figures chimed with other indicators suggesting consumers have largely shrugged off the Brexit vote and defied gloomy predictions before the EU referendum.”

The BBC:

“The figures suggest consumer confidence remains robust in the face of uncertainty caused by Brexit.”

Bloomberg:

“The figures suggest the British consumer remains in robust health after driving the economy to unexpectedly strong growth in the three months following the decision to leave the European Union.”

Economists’ forecasts for the retail sales figures were close to 100% off. Experts…

Institute For Government Slap Down “Wrong” Times Splash

ifg

After their front page yesterday unravelled, the Times have doubled down by reporting that the Institute for Government says Brexit is causing “chaos” and an “existential threat” to some departments in Whitehall. Well, the Institute for Government are not happy with the Times. Their head of research Dr Hannah White says:

“To be clear – this article is wrong to say Institute for Government has warned of an ‘existential threat’ – we reported this as the view of a source.”

The IFG researcher who is quoted in the article, Joe Owen, has retweeted Dr White’s statement that the Times article is “wrong“. Two Brexit doom-mongering Times splashes in two days fall apart – this ‘fake news’ problem is getting worse…

Google Backs Brexit Britain With £1 Billion Investment

Google has delivered a vote of confidence in Brexit Britain by confirming it will establish a new headquarters in the UK, creating 3,000 news jobs investing and £1 billion in the UK economy. Chief executive Sundar Pichai tells the BBC:

“The UK has been a tremendous market for us. We see big opportunities here. This is a big commitment from us – we have some of the best talent in the world in the UK and to be able to build great products from here sets us up well for the long term.”

Remain supporting media are already reporting this is “despite Brexit”…

BBC Changes Story as it Emerges Deloitte Authored ‘Leaked Memo’

picture-device-independent-bitmap-1

The BBC excitedly followed up this morning’s Times splash on an alleged Cabinet Office memo bemoaning Brexit chaos: “There is no plan for Brexit, leaked memo says”. Is it quite the bombshell memo gleeful Remainers are hoping? Downing Street say that in fact it wasn’t a Cabinet Office memo at all, it was an unsolicited report authored by Deloitte. In which they found the government needs 30,000 extra staff, presumably Deloitte consultants. Government sources say they told the BBC their headline and story was wrong at 7am. A Whitehall source says:

“This is about as meaty as Will Straw sending something to the letters page of the Times.”

The Beeb have now changed their headline, offering no explanation of the clarification to readers…
