Beyond the Call of Duty: British Army Using Xbox Motion Controller to Fight Ebola


The Army are sending 800 personnel to Africa to fight the the spread of Ebola and they’re taking a secret weapon with them – Microsoft’s Kinect video game motion controller. Initially released as a peripheral device for the Xbox360 games console, Kinect allows users to interact with a computer using hand gestures and body movement.

The Army will use the Kinect inside a touch-free interactive kiosk that will allow people who may have contracted Ebola learn about symptoms and cures in a safe place where they can’t contaminate the kiosk with blood or sweat. “Modern warfare”…
