A second anti-lockdown crank has pleaded not guilty to the harassment of the BBC’s Nick Watt, who was accosted by a mob of protesters in Whitehall last month. Christopher Aitken, who admits being part of the mob yet still insists he “did nothing wrong”, was caught on camera chasing the Newsnight editor into Richmond Terrace following the government’s decision to delay reopening beyond 21st June. Aitken left court yesterday wearing a box on his head, and in the esteemed company of – who else? – Piers Corbyn. A trial is now set for 29th November…

There were a colourful range of characters who were willing to chat including, conspiracy theorists warning of fascist technocracy, angry nutters calling for Whitty and Boris to be arrested, and your run-of-the-mill anti-vaxxers. Someone should tell the protestors that the successful vaccine programme is what has ended the much-hated lockdown…

As concerns rise about low ethnic minority uptake of the vaccine among Birmingham’s ethnic minorities, one Labour Party official and councillor in the West Midlands has been busy questioning vaccine safety. Zafar Islam – a councillor in Dudley and deputy chair of Dudley North CLP – has dozens of tweets dating back to September last year repeating antivaxxer talking points about the vaccine’s safety and lack of thorough testing. His tweets are a stream of left-wing retweets fused with a focus on Kashmir and Palestine. Despite his concerns about the vaccines, it is now a priority for Zafar to get this supposedly rushed vaccine to Palestinians in Gaza, where he claims there is a “block/ban of #COVID19 #vaccines” going to Palestine.
Odd that he has so many concerns about vaccines, yet he is really keen to ensure take-up in Gaza of the supposedly dangerous jabs, it is almost as if he has some other motivation for focus on that region:
Piers Corbyn has been arrested yet again for Covid denial. In a break from tradition, the latest cuffing isn’t over organising a lockdown-breaking protest, rather distributing vile leaflets comparing the Covid vaccine to Auschwitz death camps. Guido was first to report on Corbyn’s flyers back in December, when at the time Piers was targeting the highly Jewish areas of North London. The rest of the media cottoned on last week and he was promptly reported to the police, with London MP Neil Coyle welcoming the investigation. Never one to be outdone, one of the leaders of Britain’s anti-vaxxer movement Piers Corbyn this weekend started targeting London’s Jewish community in Barnet with leaflets comparing the government’s Covid vaccination programme with the atrocities at Auschwitz. While the government fights fake news on social media, there’s little they can do about Corbyn’s appalling analogue crusade…
The leaflet told local residents that the recent Evening Standard headline “Vaccines are safe path to freedom” was “in the tradition of the Nazi slogan “Arbeit Macht Frei” (work sets you free). Whereas in reality the truth is the opposite”. Fake warnings are also included that the vaccine “may kill you” and hasn’t been scientifically tested. That’s why Piers Corbyn is such a staunch supporter of all other vaccines that have been tested for decades…
