Politics Live viewers witnessed a bizarre moment during today’s programme in which the former shadow leader of the house Valerie Vaz decided to speculate Boris Johnson wasn’t as ill while in intensive care as the public were led to believe. Despite the conversation being about Dominic Cummings, Vaz told viewers:
“Remember, the PM was in hospital for a while, errm not quite at death’s door, that we were led to believe”
After Tory MP Simon Clarke pointed out it was an extraordinary thing to claim, Vaz doubled down on her conspiracy, saying “I don’t know, I wasn’t in the room… OK so he was in intensive care I don’t know I wasn’t his doctor”. Looks like Starmer dodged a bullet sacking her earlier this month…

“This is no way to run a parliament… calling us turkeys is not appropriate language.”
No one really knew what opposition MPs would do after going to the extreme lengths to recall Parliament through the Supreme Court of this country. Apparently the answer was to squabble amongst each other over the use of a Christmas based metaphor. This isn’t student politics, it’s kindergarten.
Valerie Vaz – addressing the topic of the new Millicent Fawcett statute – said at this morning’s business statement in the Commons:
“Yes women are very important, we hold up half the sky.”
That’s a line from Chairman Mao, who famously proclaimed: “women hold up half the sky”. John McDonnell will be pleased…
Shadow Leader of the House Valerie Vaz was wheeled out to defend Corbyn amid Labour’s anti-Semitism crisis on Radio 4’s Westminster Hour last night. Hapless Vaz didn’t seem to know the meaning of the word anti-Semitism, as she repeatedly gaffed:
“[Jeremy Corbyn]’s been steeped in anti-Semitism… we must make sure we continue to show people we are an anti-Semitic party”
Helpful…
