LibDems: Vote Tory, Get Corbyn

This has to be the most fantastically absurd leaflet of the election campaign. The LibDems are claiming that voting Tory could put Jeremy Corbyn into Number 10 and that only voting LibDem can stop Labour winning. Not sure what they’ve been smoking. Farron himself has said the Tories are going to win and the LibDems have been secretly telling their supporters to vote Labour in some seats. Gotta admire the chutzpah…

Speaking of unfortunate leaflets, here is one from Labour MP Roger Godsiff, who probably needs a better campaign slogan:

Who is Guido to disagree…

Labour MP Warns Corbyn Over Salma Yaqoob

A fight is brewing in Birmingham Labour. On Sunday Guido reported on speculation that disgraced former Respect leader Salma Yaqoob is being lined up by Jeremy Corbyn for a Labour seat. Readers will remember her as the Stop the War loony who refused to applaud an Afghanistan war hero awarded the George Cross for diving on to a grenade and saving the lives of four fellow soldiers. Local lefties are tipping her to run in veteran MP Roger Godsiff’s Birmingham Hall Green constituency. Well, Godsiff has now hit back with a punchy warning to his leader. He’s not going down without a fight.

“I have made it perfectly clear that I won’t be retiring at the next election.

I will be more than happy to remain as the Member for Birmingham Hall Green as long as the members and people of Hall Green want me to.

I would point out however that at the last general election my majority went up from 3,700 to 19,818.

I had a swing from Tory to Labour of 12.2%, the highest in the country, and I got into the book of records for UK elections with the highest increase since 1945 in the Labour vote in any one election.”

A pretty robust warning to the Corbynistas that he won’t be carted off quietly. One to watch…
