Millionaire comic and achingly right-on Labour moderate Robert Webb has deleted this late-night tweet calling Leave voters “thick people”:
Before clarifying that actually he was only calling half the Wembley audience “stupid“:
I don't call them stupid. I called half the Wembley audience stupid for applauding Johnson's absurd Independence Day peroration…

Meanwhile Ben Goldacre, the celebrity scientist and Guardian columnist, has written:
“There will be lots and lots of immigration: bad luck if you don’t like that… This is not the fault of the EU… Deal with it. Immigration will never stop… Just vote remain. It’s boring, there’s nothing awesome about it, but sometimes you have to take a break from useful productive work to stop idiots breaking things.”
An ingenious intervention. That’ll be a few more votes for Leave…
Robert Webb, the Labour-supporting funnyman who played Jez in the hit Channel 4 comedy Peep Show, has rather spectacularly had his say on Jeremy Corbyn:
"Why be Tory-lite? What's the point?" Bollocks. All 4 candidates have good Labour policies. But 1 of them was almost GM designed by Tories..

… to lose the next election. Jez can't win. To win, we have to take seats directly from the Tories. But more than that. I think he's…
— Robert Webb (@arobertwebb) August 13, 2015
…fucking awful. He backs Islamists, he wants to leave NATO, he wants to spend a fortune on renationalising stuff instead of keeping…

..Sure Start centres open. He a nice guy, totally marooned in 1980s politics. And I remember the 1980s very well. The Bennites fucked Labour
— Robert Webb (@arobertwebb) August 13, 2015
..and then we had 17 years of Tories. Lots of people suffered while the Left kept to their splendid principles. Fuck that. Come on, guys..
— Robert Webb (@arobertwebb) August 13, 2015
..I don't think that people who voted Tory last time are bad people. They're your mum, your grandad. We persuade them, we push them.

With Corbyn leading Labour, the Conservatives won't even look over their shoulder. Effective opposition includes a leader who might win.
— Robert Webb (@arobertwebb) August 13, 2015
It’s a better argument against Corbyn than any of the actual candidates have managed so far…
