Richard Madeley is once again under fire after another Patridge-esque moment on GMB this morning, when he asked Starmer whether Angela Rayner is still his “best girl”. The question followed reports in the Sundays of Sir Keir’s plans to sideline his deputy leader following a series of gaffes. GMB deserve credit for managing to hire a replacement for Piers Morgan who manages to wind up the perpetually outraged as much he did…
Insulate Britain is having a great media round today. With one spokesperson already refusing four times to admit whether their eco-terrorism would still be worth it if someone got seriously injured, “activist” Liam Norton has now pulled a blinder on Good Morning Britain by revealing his own home isn’t insulated:
“Whether my home is insulated or not doesn’t change the fact that millions of people’s homes aren’t insulated…the thing is, this is like, a shame that this discussion has been debased in this way…our country is going to be destroyed if we don’t get this sorted out. You know insulation costs tens of thousands of pounds, you know, you’re aware of that?”
Pushed by Richard Madeley to explain the eco-mob’s M25 protests, Norton finally had enough of being asked reasonable questions and simply walked off set. “He’s doing a Piers!” said Madeley…
Following Extinction Rebellion’s stunt yesterday, which had the climate alarmists blocking traffic on the M25 for five hours, one of their leading activists appeared on GMB this morning to explain how roadblocks are meant to protect the planet:
“Why do you think grannies are on the road yesterday? Why do you think that’s happening? … This is the way that has been proven to force the government to act… the government are not looking after their citizens, Richard.”
Host Richard Madeley was having none of it:
“You’re blocking out reality, aren’t you? You’re only seeing one aspect of reality. You’re ignoring the reality of the individual. You’re seeing the reality of the state, and that’s fine, but you’re seeing it at the expense of the reality of the individual, and that’s fascism, I’m afraid.”
Guido’s been calling these clowns ‘eco-terrorists’ for a long time. Madeley’s taken it a step further…
Good Morning Britain received 145 complaints over Richard Madeley’s interview with SAGE scientist (and card-carrying communist) Susan Michie, in which Madeley quite rightly challenged Michie over her radical politics and questioned whether they informed her views on Covid policy. A completely fair question, and a long time coming.
Ofcom are unlikely to rule against Madeley for asking a question Michie did not want to answer; that’s an editorial judgement way outside Ofcom’s remit. Yet apparently for 145 viewers, it was all too much. Of course, amongst those complaining was Michie herself, who took to Twitter to write:
“A complaint has been submitted and a public apology requested”.
If Michie and 144 other pearl-clutching viewers were upset by Madeley, Guido has to wonder what they thought of Matthew Syed’s comments on Politics Live yesterday…
Guido commends Richard Madeley for being the first TV host in the country to invite “Independent” SAGE’s Susan Michie on to their show and finally confront her about her hard-left politics. Madeley rightly points out that activist expert Michie’s love of national Covid restrictions may not be born from her concern for the nation’s health, rather the default policy position of a hard-core, state-loving communist. It looked like Susan didn’t appreciate this line of questioning…
Some typically brutal moments from Britain’s real-life Alan Partridge…
